Frank Sinatra - Pick Yourself Up Lyrics

Now nothing's impossible, I've found for when my chin is on the ground,
I pick myself up, dust myself off, and start all over again.
Don't lose your confidence if you slip, be grateful for a pleasant trip,
And pick yourself up, dust off, start over again.
Work like a soul inspired until the battle of the day is won.
You may be sick and tired, but you be a man, my son.
Will you remember the famous men who have to fall to rise again,
So take a deep breath, pick yourself up, start all over again.

[musical interlude]

You gotta work like a soul inspired until the battle of the day is won.
You may be sick and tired, but you be a man, my son.
Will you remember the famous men who have to fall and then to rise again,
So take a deep breath, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again.

[musical interlude]

Once again now:
Will you remember the famous men who have to fall and then rise again,
So take a deep breath, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again.

[coda]

That's enough now.

  11. J.... O....

Overall I like the Nat King Cole/George Shearing version better, mainly because its pace allows for more contemplation and is more relaxing. But I do like the big-band sound of this version, but I won't say more than the NKC/GS version.

They are both very good in their own ways.

    Breaking Bad!

  47. E.... E....

    breaking bad got me here

  48. j.... ....

  49. C.... S....

    You've got my vote. ;)

  50. D.... B....

I haven't heard this Sinatra standard but it should be my permanent standard. If I ever get a talk show it will be my intro.

  51. f.... ....

Ginger Rogers sings this to Fred in Swing Time to encourage him to learn to dance. Fred is only acting like he can't dance...falling down...for the purpose of mollifying Ginger, who he had earlier inadvertently publicly embarrassed. Only problem is that he manages to get her fired...and then by dancing with her, gets her re-hired. Get it? Well....OK.....I guess you just gotta see the film.

  52. P.... H....

A perfect song for where I am today...
