Frank Sinatra - Laura Lyrics
Laura is the face in the misty light
Footsteps that you hear down the hall
The laugh that floats on a summer night
That you can never quite recall
Those eyes how familiar they seem
She gave your very first kiss to you
That was Laura but she's only a dream
She gave your very first kiss to you
That was Laura but she's only a dream

OPINION:
"LAURA", BY FRANK SINATRA IS GOOD AT THE RECORDING, OWNED BY HIM CALLED : "THE DECCA RECORD COMPANY", PREVIOUSLY ESTABLISHED AND OWNED BY JOHNNY MERCER .
" LAURA", IS COMPOSED BY DAVID RAKSIN IN MUSIC, AND LYRICS BY JOHNNY MERCER.
THE MOVIE," LAURA", STARS GENE TIERNEY AND DANA ANDREWS , DIRECTED BY OTTO PREMINGER, WHO HAS REPLACED MAMOULIAN, THE ONE FIRST FAVORED BY ZANUCK.
GORDON JENKINS IS SINATRA'S VERY GOOD ARRANGER, ASIDE FROM OTHERS.
******** ****** ******
1) JENKINS HAS ARRANGED , WHILE SINATRA SINGS THE SONGS, AND THEY BOTH DID SUCCESFULLY A VERY GREAT ALBUM OF BALLAD SONGS , NAMED :" NO ONE CARES" ( ALSO A SONG TITLE ),WITH VERY QUIET AND SLOW BUT SO BEAUTIFULLY ATTACTIVE AND VERY NICE RYTHMN TO LISTEN.
SINATRA IS UNIQUELY A GREAT SINGER ; EVERYBODY - IT SEEMS - DOES LIKE HIM, THEY DO SEEM TO AGREE AND TO THINK HE IS # ( NUMBER ) ONE .
2) " WHERE ARE YOU?" , IS ALSO A GOOD ALBUM.

Laura, você encanta e apaixona.
My dad picked out my name, and I love it. My mom would always sing this song to me. Whenever I am at a joint with a piano, I request this song.
Gordon Jenkins orchestration....so rich, so comforting
Think of...?
I like this song because my name is Laura 😂
One of the most hauntingly beautiful songs ever written and sung.
The wistfulness of this song makes it almost unbearable to listen to.
No he escuchado canción más melancólica. Tanto que se queda con todo el espacio de mi mente.
I have, in my time, asked my mother if she ever heard that song when I was born, and whether that had anything to do with why I was named Laura, but she has never been able to tell me about that.
LOL I remember Steve Urkel's attempt to serenade Laura Winslow on "Family Matters" with a bit of this song outside her bedroom window when he was around 13. At first, I thought it was a song he made up for her then I found out it was a classic tune.
There can’t be a more haunting song than this. It haunts me today.
I love the song and the movie with the very beautiful lady Mrs.Tierney
Frank Sinatra vs Dick Haymes on this song. Which version do you prefer ?
❤️❤️❤️
I was named after this song...my dad loved the movie and this music.
Thank you,Utube, for I have a fantastic library second to none!
It was the movie, the song and the face-persona of Gene Tierney that created the mystique and captivated so many.
My daughter LAURA Denise was named after this beautiful song.
Thank You Frank Sinatra ... I adored the song and it's lyrics.
Laura was mesmerizing song like "laura"
This was a song Urkel sang off key with his accordion to Laura Winslow on Family Matters. I thought it was a song he made up until i found out it was not.
Who came here trying to find any Laura’s songs ??
I love Any Frank Sinatra
It's my sister-in-law's birthday today. Obviously her name is Laura (lol) and I'm looking for a song with her name in it. Must say I never heard this song before
Haunting, one of the best. Rap killed romance. Dark times, these.
This version written by David Raskin and Johnny Mercer, orchestrated by Jordan Jenkins with a masterful interpretation by Mr. Sinatra takes this song to a whole other level.
Excuse my english. Is "Wanderful " .
Oh! Wanderfull. Thanks. Estoy encantada de poder escuchar está versión de mi admirado Sinatra. Sin ti, nunca hubiera podido! Gracias otra vez. Un abrazo..
very nice
Frank Sinatra and Gordon Jenkins...Unbeatable !
Tremendous.
Yes, I was named after this song as well. Such a gift. Thanks, Mom and Dad!
Awesome.I have been a fan of Frank Sinatra's ever since I was age 13, during 1974.As a teenager I had several of his LPs.He was cute, too.He was the one singer who could sing this song really well. The movie this song was from was very good. Most songs Johnny Mercer wrote were excellent.
fantastica
La melancolía expresada en una canción.
Una obra mestra de pel·lícula i una cançó inoblidable.
Fantastic arrangement , the Gordon Hill Jenkins, and Sinatra amazing on this one.
His songs are great and his voice.. so lovely. I was born 1991 but I really like his song.

This has been a favorite song of mine for a long time, and my name isn't even Laura! Sinatra, among all others who have recorded this beautiful song, does it best of all. I had lots of requests for this, just on the piano -- beautiful tune!
A very beautiful song, sung by The Best---Frank Sinatra.
the first time i heard that marvelous song i was 10 now i am 75 and i still feel the same thrill.
jose chaves I couldn’t have said it better. Beautiful music is timeless.
That's the best compliment I've ever heard!
I understand what you mean, it's timeless
Brilliant arrangement, and kudos to the one who chose to pair this legendary singer with an equally legendary song, 13 years after it was first recorded.
"'This man can write about anything '' Frank can sing about anything"
this was frank's first album to be in stereo
I heard this lovely song as a teenager! I immediately fell in love with the name and the song. That's how my daughter came to have the name Laura. still my most favorite name and song ever!!
I wonder if my best friend laura was named after this song
Fantastic, mystical
Stunning!
Damn...this sounds good
never seen the movie but the song is gold genius
You need to watch it, a great film noir.
Watch it it’s free on u tube - good enough to watch its a gem
Should've cut out the minute of schmaltz at the beginning, but of course production values were different in those days. Just as an aside, to me production is about vision and production at its best is timeless. And when vision meets talent comin' through the rye that's where timeless art is born.
Gordon Jenkins was known for his rich orchestrations. The beginning part sets the mood for the song.
it's like a movie
That's because it's the theme to one. The classic "Laura," though Mercer's lyric was added later.
Thanks I did not know the words were added later. That is why it became popular after the movie was out. This was my dad's favorite song and named me after it.
One of the best singers with one of the best soundtrack ever made.
This song is gold.
If you knew the Spike Jones version first, well, it was hard to listen to this the first time and not brace for gun shots or idiotic Doodles Weaver babbling. Frank succeeded.
Great Song... Great Movie... the movie is on Netflix
I was named for this song too!
So was I!
me too, both this and the movie
The police came and changed my name to "Laura Order". ;-)>
Insane arrangement!!
I was named after this song.
Laura Crader Me Too!
I was named after a different Laura song :P
Me too :)
So is my daughter. ❤️
What is the name of the album this song is fr0m?
+Lee-um Dunigan It was on "The Voice Of Frank Sinatra" and "Frankly Sentimental" and was re-recorded for "Where Are You?"
Ouçam MATT MONRO cantar que é melhor
MATT MONRO is better , listem
Are you serious? Pleasant voice, Munro, but the magic is missing.
Obrigado
You need to see the video - Legends Matt Monro Man with the Golden Voice
Eu ouvi Carly Simom e gostei muito. Obrigado Antonio Afif
Most haunting yet beautiful melody and lyrics ever written. Not to mention Frank Sinatra's version.
Thank you Steve. But I prefere Matt Monro.
To each his own and I very much like Matt on just about everything he's done. Wonderful singer with a very warm sound indeed. However, on this, he turned in a rather lighthearted bossa nova. Missing, to me, is the ache or longing Sinatra so effortlessly conveys, appropriate to, perhaps even commanded by, Mercer's lyric. There are a host of reasons why he's held in such high regard and such comparisons aren't fair for at least as many reasons. When was it recorded, what was the aim of the recording, who else had done it previously, what was the theme of the record it would appear on, how much control did the artist have over the project and more. Fortunately, there's plenty of room for both, especially when you consider we only have one fellow left who actually knows how to sing like this, and he's 90!
Eu não desconsidero Franck, eu gosto muito, acho-o fantástico, ouço-o frequentemente., assim como Nat King Cole, Michael Bubble , Tony Bennet, mas Matt para mim é the best of the bests. Thank you. Você precisa ouvir mais Matt. Ouça From Russia with love, yerterday, walk way, sunrise sunset, Jean and others
Sgreed !!!
@Martin Walters reprise records strange a bit . Maybe because of acoustic of the room and engineers. I have CD version of all Sinatra album. İn 2009-2010-2011 universal music remastered the albums that Sinatra did in reprise times. And again I don't know maybe related to person that remastered that albums. Some of them are very good but some of them are not good for sound .(Sorry for my English)
It gets you back to the eternal
Yes, it does, so ethereal, so haunting as a memory of a dream; so beautifully presented by Frank Sinatra...
Thanks. One of my favorite songs---sung by the Best----Frank Sinatra.Mmm
+jay capp Linten Matt Monro , is better. Listen also the shadow of smille, yesterday, born free and othres
The intro is too long.
@joymom1 THATS BECAUSE OF THE MOVIE. A MYSTERY. I THINK IT IS ONE BEAUTIFUL SONG AND ONE FINE MOVIE. TAKE CARE.
