Frank Sinatra - It's Sunday Lyrics
Drowsy morning sunlight, gentle kisses for my love
It's Sunday, it's Sunday
She needn't waken, I'll fix the eggs and bacon her way
While she just dozes
She's fond of roses
We'll talk away the morning, read the papers, misbehave
Enjoying each other
The world is ours to play in, we'll take a walk or stay in
Long and lazy hours to have and hide away in for one day
Thank goodness, it's Sunday
[brief guitar solo]
It is Sunday, it's Sunday
Lately I've taken to bringing her a flower on her tray
She's fond of roses
We'll talk away the morning, read the papers, misbehave
Enjoying each other
The world is ours to play in, we'll take a walk or stay in
Long and lazy hours to have and hide away in for one day
Thank goodness, it's Sunday

Frank Sinatra It's Sunday Comments
She needn't waken -- I'll fix the eggs and bacon . . .
“I'm Kate Flannery playing some of my favorites on Siriusly Sinatra. A saloon-owner's daughter who loves Sinatra's saloon songs.” Kate introduced a song she says “both my boyfriend and I love” as it expresses so well “our favorite day of the week” (for sleeping late and breakfast in bed?) – IT'S SUNDAY” – Frank's studio recording 'alone together' with nylon-string guitar virtuoso Tony Mottola.
----
I can recall only one other Playing Favorites host ever including this wonderful late-in-life studio recording: Along with George Benson, Tony Mottola gets my vote as the greatest-ever 'flat-pick' (plectrum, as opposed to finger-picking) guitar giant who got to record with Sinatra. Just had to come here and say Thanks for including this one, Kate – along with your delightful personal anecdote!
The song is the last great melody composed by the late Jule (Just in Time) Styne to words by Broadway lyricist Susan Birkenhead (still with us, age 69). The best lyric of its kind – artless and memorable:

Thanks Dev11588 for sharing (ten years and 50,000 "views" ago I see). Shared this day at Sinatra Family forum -- "Siriusly Sinatra" -- PLAYING FAVORITES: https://sinatrafamily.com/forum/showthread.php/33225-Playing-Favorites-on-Sirius?p=1282803#post1282803
Tony Mottola on guitar.
Beauty. Thanks.
🎶💓🎵💞❤️@*****thanks Frank!💓❤️💞▪️
“Thank Goodness it’s Sunday”
-said no grill cook
Beautiful guitar, heart felt vocals, exceedingly depressing....
Tony Mottola makes this song
the new jersey jazz society this month has a few articles about Frank Sinatra . Of course the 2 young new jersey boys saw bing crosby . Frank was influenced by Bing . Tony later recorded with Frank .
Belongs with those special songs by this magnificent singer. Love to hear my favorite singer Steve Lippia share time with this wonderful song.
The best ever...Frank Sinatra!
what a style Sinatra brings to this song
Genius. It's not about the voice at this time. It's about the timbre and tone. Think Mabel Mercer.
One can feel his emotion as he sings. Sinatra once again did it his way.
Truly a nice song, done so well and enunciated perfectly by Sinatra!
trying to find a guitar tab of this, please let me know
Do you have an mp3 of this? I cant find it anywhere. I have the 7" single, but its not perfect.
+Ian M Use covert2mps.net and it will convert this youtube video to mp3 for you. I have the vinyl album Sunday And Every Day so I converted it to mp3 from the album itself. I adore this song. I heard it being played on an open market and so asked the lady if I could buy the album from her. It remains on of my favourite Sinatra albums.
모라는거지?
Indeed, PERFECT. Perfect Sinatra.
Excellent! With the great Tony Mottola on guitar.
The perfect song for a lazy Sunday morning sung by a great artist!
Who ever uploaded this song is truly a Frank Sinatra Fan! The average joe don't listen to this level of material. This song takes me back to my short spent youth,...when I was young and in love with my own Ava Gardner.
+Joseph Bellamy Indeed. Yet this is my favourite Sinatra song and I have it on the original vinyl album - Sunday And Every Day. An uplifting song from a great album and fantastic vocalist.
only a man could sing this
Big fan of Jonathan, and have become a Sinatraphile due to his show. I never missed.
sounds like heaven atm...
@withloveenya totally! dftba!
@weallliveincastles
Completely :)
@redhairedgirl35 it's the happiest place on earth.
Aawww. His voice is so relaxing.
Amazing. Finally a song with depth and something other than "Friday, Friday, Friday".
@weallliveincastles
Aww!
It is small, and wonderful.
@redhairedgirl35 Okay, so I saw your comment and kind of squealed in happiness. Nerdfightera truly is a small world after all.
Thanks, Hank Green. Sinatra rocks.
I'm glad not all songs that are named after days of the week suck.
I love when Hank brings me back to things that I already love.
Nice surprises :)
