Frank Sinatra - Body And Soul Lyrics

My heart is sad and lonely
For you I sigh, for you, dear, only
Why haven't you seen it?
I'm all for you, body and soul

I spend my days in longin'
And wond'ring why it's me you're wrongin'
I tell you, I mean it
I'm all for you, body and soul

I can't believe it, it's hard to conceive it
That you'd turn away romance
Are you pretending? It looks like the ending
Unless I could have one more chance to prove, dear

My life a wreck you're making
You know I'm yours for just the taking
I'd gladly surrender
Myself to you, body and soul

My life a wreck you're making
You know I'm yours for just the taking
I would gladly surrender
Myself to you, body and soul

“My life a wreck you’re making, you know I’m yours for just the taking “
He puts himself into every word. You can feel the love, the sadness the strength of the word’s meaning. His best teacher on how important it is to interpret these ballads was Ava Gardner. Her breaking up with him brought him to some deep levels of sadness which he feels when singing ballads. That comes from him. Saw him 7 times in person from 1966 to approximately 1996. Every show brought happy and sad tears. Every show was phenomenal!!! Thanks Frank, for all the unbelievable great memories.

what's amazing is that generations still love him. Truly the best. Class equals Frank. I missed out on the opportunity to see him live, but if I close my eyes I can imagine the scene. nobody cheering obnoxiously mid song or hooting at the end. just the pleasant applause from those left breathless by the best there ever was.

  25. B.... H....

Frank Sinatra was the very, very best...and, his success can best be described by two words..."the lyrics". That was by his own admission...the lyrics...his mentor? Bing Crosby! Read he book!

  26. R.... G....

You will never get tired listening to the best there is and ever will be Franks swagger and style no one can ever get there.

    f.... j....

your name says it all: flak jack. must have balls of steel saying something like that on one of his most emotional songs. if you don't like him why are you listening to it? kind of dumb... his kids were okay, but Frank was the best. My Way or these boots were made for stompin... Well, only a classless boob like yourself would choose the later. (I'm sure you mispronounced later too. that should say it all.) go an smoke another one. hopefully, you'll be to impaired that you won't be able to type another senseless comment like that again.

I'm hopelessly in love with someone who would like to love me, but has decided she's had enough relationships for a lifetime.  What she doesn't realize is that, sometimes, the last one is the very best, if she'd only take me.  Call me brokenhearted.

  29. P.... S....

His voice was the voice wasn't the the voice of the forties but the emotion and years of heartbreak made up for it. If you can see the video that accompanies this I highly recommend it. I tried to like this and it kept coming up unlike which I certainly didn't want to do. What gives?

  30. R.... G....

The best rendition of this song with Frank Jrs band 1985  just fantastic the strings are beautiful.

On October 26, 2007, the hottest ticket in Hollywood was a seat at Studio 'A' in Capitol Records, where Frank Sinatra's original vocals from April of 1984, done in New York, were paired perfectly with a new arrangement by the legendary Torrie Zito (John Lennon's "Imagine") and a remarkable reunion of Sinatra's favorite musicians. Frank Sinatra, Jr., conducted the 50-piece orchestra and the result is an unforgettable new take on an enduring classic. This is a previously unissued recording.

  41. R.... G....

The best version of this song with FrankJr.conducting The master at his very best.

  42. F.... D....

Wahnsinn. Ich habe Body and Soul schon in soooooo vielen Versionen gehört. Aber keine war so gut wie diese. Frank Sinatra wurde immer besser, je älter er wurde.

  43. s.... ....

@fernandgabrielli1 WOW, you were so lucky to catch her live !

  44. f.... g....

@alexjrmarino Oh yes, she's amazing, no doubt about it! I was lucky to see her live twice, in 1983 in São Paulo, then in Paris in 2004. This secound show was not really something at her level, but I was glad I was there just to see her swing, even without being able to remember the words of most songs. The voice was also very weak, but the sense of time was untouched and she could improvose creatively. The lady was a champ!!!

    f.... g....

Antes de ser apóstata, temía decir que Sinatra era según un crítico:´´casi la voz de Diós´´ ahora digo és la voz de Diós,igual pido perdón.

  45. s.... ....

@fernandgabrielli1 try Anita O'day, although it is nothing quite like the original, but it's so different and beautiful in a way hadn't heard it before

  46. f.... g....

The most touching version of this perfect song. This is what the song is about and no one can do any better thah that, in my opinion... Bravo to the arranger and to Frank Jr as wall.

  47. c.... ....

    tune. frank at his best.x

different musical arrangement which is a whole lot better than the original. Too bad Sinatra didn't live to see this song with a different arrangement but I'm sure that he would love it. Sinatra was known for having such excellent musical arrangements and this one is defintely on my list of favorites..

  51. M.... ....

    @honeybee7700

This is one of my favorite renditions of "Body & Soul" from Sinatra. He first sung this song while he was at Columbia Records. Actually this song supposed to be released on the album "L.A. Is My Lady" and this particular version of the song had a different musical arrangement and Frank didn't care much for it so the song wasn't released on the album. A few years ago Frank Sinatra Jr. and the Sinatra Estate decided to pull this song out of the vault and redress it with a

Magnificent. This orchestra was conducted by Frank Jnr. Stunning arrangement. There used to be a studio visual on YT but it was pulled. Lovely
