Foxing - Three On A Match Lyrics
Little woken warmth
The only thing I loved
Now a suffocated soul
Its mother’s makeup runs and rinses out the pores
Rings the color from her hair
For what we did my love I’m sorry
And who the cloth has wound was wound alone
For what we've done my love I’m sorry
And who the cloth has wound was wound alone
Its mother crosses heart
She’s damned by her own milk
With unbroken water still
For what we’ve did my love I’m sorry
For what we done my love I’m sorry
And who the cloth has wound was wound alone
When it’s three on a match
The worst are always left
I’m survived by the weight of my own sins
When it’s three on a match
The Lord won’t let me in
I’m survived by the weight of my own sins
The cypress came up to my knees in May
And woken warmth grew right beside my leg

Foxing Three On A Match Comments
man. this is absolutely devastating.
Can anyone give me a run down of the meaning ? I'm a little confused on it. From the lyrics it sounds like a miscarriage
I'd actually say it's about an abortion rather than a miscarriage. I feel the lyrics reflect this a bit better. The regret that's conveyed, the lines "for what we did..." and even the use of the term "three on a match" is absolutely heartbreaking when you understand where it comes from and how it could be applied to this situation.

The song glass coughs is about the abortion and this is an apology.
This is an early pregnancy but he feels like there was a soul in the embryo, he said the only thing he ever loved so probably he didn't love the mom but wanted to be a father.
The mom has milk but no baby. No birth happened. She's grabbing at her hair a lot and grieving.
His sins are so great they've impacted many people. It's going to affect generations to come.
Three on a match and only the bad are left. This is a reference to the three crucifixions when Jesus died. The good die because the bad kill them. They're bad because they killed their baby.
He feels like there's no redemption for him.
@jay thats not were the term comes from. It's a military superstition. Do some googling.
I've been trying to figure it out and I think the mother threatened abortion (for whatever reason) then the father (the person singing) was really torn by this and attempted suicide but he "survived by the weight of his own sins" and "The Lord wont let [him] in"
It could've happened sometime after may since cypress is a symbol of mourning but the last like "A woken warmth grew right beside my leg" means that she didn't have the abortion and he got to see his baby grow.
Little woken warmth
(The baby)
The only thing I loved
Now a suffocated soul
(Thinking about how the baby was going to be aborted)
Its mother’s makeup runs and rinses out the pores
(Mother crying)
Rings the color from her hair
(Imagery of mother crying)
For what we did my love I’m sorry
(Could mean anything from sex, to fighting, to maybe after his attempted suicide when they both seemed a mess)
And who the cloth has wound was wound alone
( Maybe they had baby clothes and everything all ready, but now they were being folded and put into storage or something)
For what we've done my love I’m sorry
And who the cloth has wound was wound alone
Its mother crosses heart
(The mother swore she was telling the truth about something- I'm not too sure on what about.)
She’s damned by her own milk
(This could mean that he thinks she's going to hell for the act of abortion, but it could also mean that being pregnant was a curse and i think it's most likely that he thinks of being pregnant as a curse because of "For what we did my love I'm sorry." He doesn't hate her, he's not mad at her, he also takes the blame for everything going on.)
With unbroken water still
(This is how you know that it's about abortion. Her water didn't break yet, the baby is still in her womb)
For what we’ve did my love I’m sorry
And for who the cloth was wound was wound alone
For what we done my love I’m sorry
And who the cloth has wound was wound alone
When it’s three on a match
("Three on a match" is suspected to originate from WW1. It refers to when 3 soldiers line up on one match. An enemy sniper would see the match when the 1st person lit it, take aim at the 2nd, and shoot [kill] the 3rd.)
The worst are always left
(He sees himself as the worst. I believe he tried to take his own life but when he survived he saw it as "the worst people stay alive, but the good ones always die before they should." OR it could mean that he died because he was the worst and he left his significant other on her own.)
I’m survived by the weight of my own sins
( This either means that he survived but he still thinks that he's an awful person, or the baby survived and if the baby is what survived "by the weight of my own sins" is referencing whatever he was sorry for in the line "for what we did my love, I'm sorry")
When it’s three on a match
The Lord won’t let me in
(This either means that he didn't die, and got a second chance, OR it means that his soul was damned to stay on earth.)
I’m survived by the weight of my own sins
The cypress came up to my knees in May
(Cypress is a type of tree, I believe? All I know for sure that it's a symbol of mourning. This could support the idea that he died and his soul is still on earth, OR it could just symbolize the passage of time in the area where he lived.)
And woken warmth grew right beside my leg ("Woken warmth" is refering to the first line, the baby. This either means that he got to see his baby grow, or his spirit did. If this actually happened to the song writer, I'm assuming that the song ends with him living since the songwritter had to be alive to write the song; but, if it's just a story, I'm going to go ahead and assume that the father died.)
However, songs are always up for interpretation.

what are these videos of?
Pretty sure these are videos for pregnant women "stretching" and doing other motions to help with the process of child birth -- ya know like all those gvt funded movies they showed in the 60s and 50s.
@Ross Knows i dont know why this made me laugh lol
Goosebumps every listen.
