Ford, Robben - Badge Lyrics

Thinkin' 'bout the times you drove in my car
Thinkin' that I might have drove you too far
And I'm thinkin' 'bout the love that you laid on my table

I told you not to wander 'round in the dark
I told you 'bout the swans that they live in the park
Then I told you 'bout our kid, now he's married to Mabel

Yes, I told you that the light goes up and down
Don't you notice how the wheel goes 'round?
And you better pick yourself up from the ground
Before they bring the curtain down
Yes, before they bring the curtain down, ooh, ooh

Get up, get up, get up
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Talkin' 'bout a girl that looks quite like you
She didn't have the time to wait in the queue
She cried away her life since she fell off the cradle

Ford, Robben Badge Comments
  1. d.... z....

his playing style evaporated after talk to your daughter album unfortunately..this cover just insipid really

  2. S.... W....

I think you have to understand that Robben is very respectful of tunes he does. I think this version is an excellent tribute to Cream ( Clapton) I'll bet Eric would like it.

  3. D.... N....

I dig this arrangement of the tune. Well done, Robben!

  4. D.... L....

    What a player!

  5. B.... B....

    Vocal part is excellence!

  6. t.... s....

looking for a track heard on Bluesville, Robben Ford, BETTER TAKE OUT SOME INSURANCE ON ME? Great track, can't find it.
    help!!!

Can nobody (including Clapton anymore) sing this song correctly?!?!?!? , like the middle break, solo and song structure this classic is set in stone.
Maybe you could extend the solo but ya ain't gonna  best this timeless beauty.

  9. B.... H....

Takes everything about the original that is good and throws it out the window. An amazing song made cheesy. This is the kind of thing the chaperones start bobbing their heads to.

    B.... H....

totally disagree.Robin Forde is a great blues artist.listen to his albums.then comment. The great Eric Clapton would endorse this rendition

    B.... H....

Bill Hawkins .Don't agree this guy is up with the best blues guitarists.in.the game.Eric would endorse that

    B.... H....

+Bill Hawkins Had to laugh at your last sentence. Great mind picture. I can
see it in some 80's Breakfast Club type high school movie when they're all
at the dance and everyone's bored because the band is lame and there's no
fun going on inside the gym. But chaperones think it's hip. Good one!

    B.... H....

+Clive Money Robben is outstanding but this is a really sterile, weak
take on a great piece of music. Re: Bill Hawkins comment. I'm with
him on this. Yes, I'm a big fan of both Ford and Clapton. Totally dif-
ferent style and approach for both. I never heard this and I'm sur-
prised Robben would release anything so mediocre.

    B.... H....

Ok Larry youre point is taken.yea you know you're music.mate.take care hey😆

  10. G.... C....

    I love this sound!!

  11. B.... ....

    Robben Ford is Killer !!!!!

  12. j.... ....

    1. The solo doesn't sound like Santana, it sounds like Robben Ford.
    2. What would the purpose be of redoing this song, and have a George Harrison sounding solo in it ? I love the fact that Robben mixes Major Pentatonic, Minor Pentatonic and THe Mixolydian Mode in his outro solo, pure Robben Ford phrasing, and I like it way more than the original. My band plays this version over the outdated, stale Cream version. And before I get lambasted, yes, I love Cream and Clapton is one of my favs also.

  13. b.... ....

Too Santana-ish, as mentioned below... each to his own.

  14. M.... G....

Yeah I know what ya mean..that solo is very Santana, it should be more George Harrison, Clapton-and that lovely psychedelic section has the arse taken out of it...good band, wrong song man.

    M.... G....

Michael Gorman what on.earth.are you.on.about.class.performance by a class musician

  15. z.... ....

Only Robben can do this alltime classic better than the original

  16. D.... M....

A very nice version of Badge.

  17. j.... ....

I don't get it... The vibe is reminiscent of Gerry Rafferty, and it shouldn't have a solo that sounds like Santana. I guess I'm too old to hear the song slaughtered. Nice playing, good band, but not my thing.

  18. E.... ....

Love it, thanks, much appreciated. To be honest though I like Jeff Healey's version even better!

  19. M.... A....

Robben and I were classmates in school. We were in beginning band class in 5th grade so I have been listening to his music for nearing 50 years. His music has matured during that time like a fine wine. It is smooth with just the right touch of sassyness. This rendition of Badge is great but that doesn't take anything away from Erik, Jack and Ginger's original in my book.

  20. g.... l....

.. i like very much them also, but Robben Ford has tons of swing and blues feel inside his solos together with a wonderful voice that is better and better than years ago..

  21. g.... l....

... yeah fresh sounds, drums, guitars and everything... specially if you think this was made only 40 YEARS LATER... but Robben is one of the best electric guitar player in the world... i love him!

  22. M.... R....

@karawanmann same opinion . . . . this is more fresh, better sound of drums, guitars ... of everything

    M.... R....

    You, too? Wrong.

  23. K.... M....

im a huge Eric Clapton fan but this version is so much better than Claptons. Great work from Robben Ford!
