Fogelberg, Dan - Lonely In Love Lyrics

Some say that love is its own
Love is its own reward
But I can't help but believe
There's got to be more

A man needs a woman
To have and to hold
To love him in body
As well as in soul
I need your desire
Where did the fire go

I keep trying to sleep
But sleep won't be mine tonight
There's so much sorrow inside
And, baby, I don't know why

I give you your freedom
I give you my love
I give all I have
Every time that we touch
I don't know, baby
Maybe I give too much

Now I'm lonely in love
Why must I be lonely in love
I'm so lonely in love
Baby why must I be lonely
Why must I be lonely in love

I know that love carries no
She carries no guarantees
But still I can't seem to find
A reason that I can believe in

You said to be patient
And give you some room
You said you had changes
You need to work through
But the longer I wait
The farther I feel from you

Now I'm lonely in love
Why must I be lonely in love
I'm so lonely in love
Baby, why must I be lonely
Why must I be lonely in love

I'm so lonely in love
Why must I be lonely in love
(With you, darling)
I'm so lonely in love
Baby, you're my one and only
Why do you keep me lonely in love

Woo hoo, woo hoo, woo hoo...

Probably one of my very favorite Dan Fogelberg songs. He left us way too soon. Thank God that we have all the beautiful music he left us.

His tunes are the soundtrack of my life in the 80"s..waypoints, changes, despair, & resurrection

This must be one of his saddest songs.

This song brings back so many good memories. I graduated from High Schoool in 1982. Those were wonderful times of driving around with my girl friend and listening to the radio. Dan Folgelberg's music was playing while we made out in the car. I later married a girl from Peoria, IL whose family knew of Dan Fogelberg. Funny how music helps us remember and relive certain key points in our life.

RIP Dan Fogelberg. Your music touched my life in many positive ways!

OM goodness,  I used to love this song in high school. I remember I had it recorded on cassette tape straight from the radio station. (The good days). This song has been weighing heavy on me all day yesterday, so I found it. I played it at least 4 times on my tv last night.  Still playing it today. Gosh JMEagel, you really captured something because this video captivates me. I can't take my eyes off of all this beauty. Thank you so much... I never knew Dan was so attractive either.

Kim G I too was in high school in the 80’s. This song brings back a sense of place that I kind of miss. The lyrics make so much sense. The 70’s & 80’s were such a great time to grow up!

  27. J.... ....

Thank you all for your encouragement, "lonely in love" is from the album "Exiles", released in 1987. It has become known as the "divorce album." Meanwhile, he met his second wife Anastasia Savage, a nurse and painter, from Louisiana. If you continue listening to his song "Anastasia's eyes" from the album "The wild places" , we get to know Dan's heart deeper, that's another great love song, enjoy...

    J.... ....

His songs are the soundtrack of my life..RIP brother. Our world is a far lesser place in your absence
