Flock Of Seagulls, A - Modern Love Is Automatic Lyrics
She's an automatic
He's a cosmic man
They will get together
They should know better by now
Down in old Japan
Where young love's forbidden
You've got to keep it hidden
Modern love is automatic
Modern love is automatic
Modern love is automatic
Modern love is automatic
For twenty years they say
You won't see him again
But I know diff'rent
Modern love is automatic
Modern love is automatic
Modern love is automatic
Modern love is automatic
Modern love is automatic
Modern love is
Automatic
Automatic
Automatic
Automatic
Automatic

Love this song
One of the greatest New Wave songs ever on one of the greatest debut albums ever and their greatest song of all time.
BEST FUCKING ALBUM OF ALL TIME 😎 cool BAND....BRING BACK THE 8OIES..FUCKING U TUBE SUCK DICK .TO MANY ADS..FUCKING ASS HOLES U TUBE EMPLOYEE'S ARE..FUCK U TUBE THE APP SUCKS DICK
Was an great album.many good songs. Frank Maudsley was a such good Bass player. Telecommunication on LP had an abnorm massiv dynamic Bass. a pleasure to hear.
This British New Wave group always jams in their songs.
album cover is super trippy. this song has to be great
Yesssssssssss...bring it on! Nothing beats the Vinyl sound of this one!
For a synth band, or any, the guitars are great.
"A space age love song" is their greatest song IMO. I just found it like 2 weeks ago. I can't stop playing it. Their guitar player is just incredible. A real inspiration
I really had no idea other than "I ran". The one hit wonder BS bugs me now
The correct order from THE 1982 album is 1. I RAN, 2. SPACE AGE LOVE SONG, 3. YOU CANT RUN, 4. DONT ASK ME, 5. MESSAGES, 6. TELECOMMUNICATION, 7. MODERN LOVE IS AUTOMATIC, 8. STANDING IN THE DOORWAY, 9. DNA, 10. MAN MADE. Tokyo was NOT on the 1982 album - it was a single B-side to I Ran. Trust me, I was a Seagulls geek in 1982 and am looking at both album and single now.
This is NOT song one from the 1982 album. This is song 7. Just because you buy the CD 20 or 30 years later does not mean you have "the album." What you have is a remastered , reproduced facsimile.
Gary, the UK 1st edition is the 1st edition.the order from that album , as is the tradition and the biggest difference between UK and US editions is the order of the tracks.
The tracks in the UK are different, plus the inclusion of Tokyo.
The US version doesnt start with Modern Love, which IMOis the correct order with the incoming guitar feedback. It is ominous and sets the stage for the album.
The record you are looking at is not a first edition UK record.
80s and 90s the best Music, fuck yeah
My fav track from that album as good as I Ran is and the rest of this amazing record!!
I saw them in the oo's still good . But they changed their look. Wasn't the same. I wished they had kept their look.
Intro of this song is wicked.
Paul Reynolds... belongs up there with Edge, Will Sargeant, Elliot Easton, Dave Fielding, Billy Duffy, Robin Guthrie, Johnny Marr, Daniel Ash, Robert Smith, John McGeoch, Stuart Adamson, Bernard Sumner(Joy Division), Charlie Burchill, Thurston Moore. The greatest 80's post punk guitarists. Did I leave anyone out?
@middleclassic steve stevens
ricky wilson
david sterry
midge ure
@anom pard overkill.

Their songs like this one remind me of Joy Division and The Cure.
such a bummer this isnt a classic album, it is one of mine
i'm fortunate to own this LP!! <3
Still relevant today..
Produced by Bill Nelson.
New Album... original members July 2018!
When bleached blonde musicians take the stage with hair styled towards their noses with synthetic instruments, what do you do????!!!////@@?!!?!?!?!?!??!?!?
Shout out from Baton Rouge, Louisiana to whom Flock of Seagulls were opened by Loverboy. ????????!!!!!!!!!?????????!?!?!?!?!
I used to,live off state street on,Carlotta and Ivanhoe
Que buen grupo de rock
my god i love this group. brings back good memories from my childhood
masterpiece
Que buen rock que viva el rock
my new car is an automatic....
I'm counting the limes in my glass. How the fuck did end up here?
peter daigle no game,? or motor skills.
Whatever happened to continuous play WITHOUT THE DRUG PUSHERS AND OTHER COMMERCIALS? I NEVER LIKED RADIO FOR THIS REASON.
they gotta make money, dude. go buy their songs if you dont want ads
Underrated album
I like how the vocals don't come in until almost half way through the song
If you guys like this you might like the feelies. Look up crazy rythyms
Got to be the best start to a album ever.
Never mind new wave??This album was THE new wave!!
This is my favorite Flock of Seagulls songs....its a classic !!
I have come here after completing my game of "Yume Nikki 3D isolated DLC".Anybody else here for that too?
Que tema. Tan solo te transporta
Que padre sonido de la guitarra.
New Wave!
Saw them do this at the Police Picnic in Toronto, I think it was 1982 0r 83. Amazing!!!! The crowd was freaking out.
esto si es music
INCOMING!!!
I wrote a really bad sixty page screenplay in one day about a woman who's abducted by aliens with the track listing for Flock of Seagulls' first album as the blue print.
19torento sure
It was total garbage, though. I don't even have it anymore because I didn't save it when I uploaded new software for my computer a couple of months ago.
I had a psychedelics-induced dream in which this song was a soundtrack, and I was in possession of a lurid pulp science fiction paperback called "Modern Love is Automatic." I had no reason to write the lurid sci-fi novel myself, because it's still out there...if only I could get back to that psychedelic dream!
A flock of the seagulls' M A N I A !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Added this to my 80's mix on Youtube. :D
i love a flock of seagulls
Seen these guy's live few days back. Must say, this song sounds beautiful live!
Where??? I would love to see them live.
this wasn't track one of the lp
@***** i did not know that. strange way to start album after hearing i ran for years
Jeremy Feit actually the US album didn't get it right. This is a concept album based on different events that we're going on at the beginning the middle and end of a alien invasion
the opening song is when they descend on the Earth .
The cosmicman is the alien which kidnaps female humans hosts to mate with ( automatic)
The offspring insure their existence on Planet Earth.
...ought a ma dick. He's a cosmic man. Won't see him again. Modern love is...
Edge of Seventeen brought me here. Wish I was born in the 80s
We all Wish We Were Born In The 80's :( :(
JASON SIMPKINS aids
Hey I miss the 80s too, but you don't see me snorting cocaine off of a Delorean
+Jonathan Holbrook That's how Doc came up with the Flux Capacitor.
+Jonathan Holbrook I dream of driving a Delorean thru outer space on blow with an '80s New Wave Hooker riding shotgun and "Modern Love is Automatic" blasting on the Alpine speakers!
it was you admit it.
Except for the Coke I was with you.
This song is about Tinder bots.
luvvvvv that synch - aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (voice!!!! guitar!!!!! toooooooooooo)
I am 53 now and play this every day its fkn amazing music!!!! Takes me back.
Yea me too,I to miss the 80s, but now I can go to YouTube and be 18 year's all over again.
hahaha that's me too
me too....
Me three.
I wish I was 18 back then. I wasn’t even born until the year after this album came out.
Does anybody know the brand of Paul Reynolds' sunglasses? I got some that are close but gotta find the real deal lol
Reynold's
Round Keyhole glasses.
Miss the 80's, miss all the great New Wave tunes !!
esperare por siempre a la bandada de gaviotas regresar desde los cielos............................
I bought this album the day it was released, still have it. The Last Flight of Yuri gagarin was on the 2nd album along with quicksand and rosenmontag I had as well, but I had a friend that obtained this album for me.
Those were all outtakes 3 OF THEIR BEST THOUGH!
This was my favorite track from this album. Man I played it to death.
YEP...this song kicks ass....still
Songs like this one remind me of Joy Division and The Cure.
I ran bitch
You………………
Fucking good Song !!!!
I could actually hear a little bit of gothic rock influence in the guitar riffs.
Red Forman The more reason for me to love this song 💜
You mean Gothic has a A Flock of Seagulls influence.
Re-discovering this song (heard it in the 80s and somehow forgot it). I listen to a lot of dark wave from the early 2000's through now and today, cannot help but think they *_borrow_* a lot from somewhat obscure songs from long ago.
It appeared to me in a dream the other night. Except it wasn't a song, it was a pulp novel based on the song.
me encanta esta cancion igual que iran ( so far agay)
well, i would say that from this fucking fantastic album, it was a big drop off to the next, and the one after that.....
i know - and its more poignant song today, since we are closer to a dystopia where humans are too numerous and expendable. ive seen the topic of love with artificial intelligent life in a human 'body' has been discussed by reputable sources.
Hello! Bladerunner
this was track 1? on the LP and CD i have, track #1 is "i ran". "Modern Love..." was i think the LAST on both. i know the Divinyls excellent first album had a radically different track listing between the US release vs. australia's and the UK's. i hate when record companies do this.
jas22 a it's a problem with the US version. It opens up with Modern Love is automatic where the aliens are descending on planet Earth to search for female hosts to kidnap so they can ensure the host will provide them the capability to live on Earth. By V song I ran the aliens catch them as they are being beamed up into the ship.
FUCK YEAH!!!
The fact that Modern Love Is Automatic was NEVER released as a single will ALWAYS make me furious, what were the record company thinking! Gawd it sends serious SHIVERS and SPARKS through my WHOLE body! xoxoxo
I've always thought the exact same thing. Mind boggling
released on (5 track) EP in 1981 i think combined with Telecommunication as the headline tracks
The fact Modern Lvoe Is Automatic was NEVER released as a single will
ALWAYS deeply make me sad, it's just THE best xoxoxo
Check out CHROMEO.
More 80's please!!! I'm so stuck in the 80's music, it's too bad they don't sing like this anymore, what can you say things change as the years go by. I don't even listen to today's music or know any bands, I only listen to 80's only. As of today, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift are the style of music now.
Plenty of good music out there, just takes a bit more finding. Check out anything Stevne Wilson has done such as Routine, Time Flies for starters...
Tears for fears
is this the best band from the 80's? i think so, who else had music like AFOS? tell me anyone?....

This song reminds me of going to Peony amusenent park and playing Space invaders and Asteroids in the arcade next to the Hurricane, The park is now gone, the arcades are all gone, and the best music is gone now too. This really sucks.
Looking back, this album is REALLY underrated-maybe it's not "cerebral"like Kraftwerk, but it's so fresh and distinct even after all these years....really makes you realize what we've been "subjected to"by the industry of late
@camiloarenivar was an awesum album..... I got beat up and austracized coz I loved them, but I still do.. and I'm revisiting after 20 odd years
neil mcallister There are very many.
@nouveauxdecadence Same here!!! I got to see them live for the first time last night, and they opened with this song. It. Was. Incredible. :D
this is not track one
@nouveauxdecadence Not ONE single person I knew knew them let alone liked them. They missed out on so so so very much. I was lucky enough to have gotten their original albums. I'd say I was THE lucky one! Fools :-) The lyrics alone are just so profound and have so much meaning. "The more you live the more you love..." "What am I supposed to do..." "Don't out your heart in mortal danger..." The list is endless... Then there are the rhythms. Thank God for letting AFOS share....
WAAN-OUWANNN-OUWANNN-OUWAAAANN

(keyboard as produced by my mouth)
hahahahaha had to lol
You got to love the Flock!
Oh my God, I have not heard this song in like, 26 or 27 years!!!
same here
I've heard this song a thousand times since the album first came out, and I still love it.
Amazing track! What a band...
I like this song!
I saw that same tour! I will never forget it. I was VERY jazzed!
Damn...as you go through each Flock song its impossible to pick a favorite for me...every single tune pulls you in with that beat!! Love it!!
Great album and this is my by far my favorite song on it !!, pleased to say I saw Flock Of Seagulls in Sheffield in their hey day :-)
