Flaming Lips, The - The Switch That Turns Off The Universe Lyrics

They have begun
Building their complex construction
Intended from
The first
To sacrifice
The universe
They have today
Another piece goes away
Once it starts
It can't be reversed
When switching off
The universe
If there's a way
I'd like to stop them
For once I feel significant
If there's a way
I'd try to change things
For once I feel terribleness
They have begun
The start of all
Obliteration
I'm still surprised
It works
The switching off
The universe

Flaming Lips, The The Switch That Turns Off The Universe Comments
  1. J.... D....

First came across this track years ago on Soulseek. Just amazing. Should have been on an album and I wish they'd have gone this route after Soft Bulletin instead of what they did on Yoshimi. There was also another incredible track from this Peel Session called "It Remained Unrealized", but it doesn't appear to be on youtube right now.

  2. G.... G....

Sounds like the chords are an early version of Are You A Hypnotist?? So good

  3. J.... D....

I remember lying in a caravan bed on a family holiday in 2000, listening to this song on my Sony Walkman radio when Flaming Lips played this live on the John Peel Show. It remains the single greatest sonic revelation I have experienced.

  4. J.... B....

god damn I love this song. I wish they would put all of the b-sides from the DVD's ona 2 or 3 CD set.
    Beautiful. Yes!!

  5. B.... ....

Some people think anything that wasn't recorded over the payphone from Siberia is "over-produced."

  6. J.... ....

That's blatantly not what s/he meant.

  7. a.... ....

Did you mean the Lips are great when they aren't recording music for profit? Because, in some ways...sadly, I agree :/ Don't get me wrong, I love the Lips. Those Yoshimi years could've been less produced.

  8. L.... H....

The best song I never knew and now I love in a long time, thanks for posting!

  9. B.... ....

This was recorded on my sixth birthday. Not to throw myself out there too much though...

Wow. Wow. I am at a total loss for what else to say. Cheers!
