I'm 64..... How I wish I could turn back time and enjoy the good times longer and make different choices... but life has been good.

To many kids in my childrens high school passed away the year this came out. No drunks, drugs just separate accidents. when you are small town and only about 30-40 in the senior class and you lose 7 kids in one year is just horrible. all were really good kids. Graduation that year was nothing but tears. I will always remember them all and this song always takes me back to that tragic time in my childrens lives. So sad to go to more funerals than proms.

I am so sorry that you had to go through that 💔😢. Life is precious.

I was a toddler when this song came out, and for a while it was my favorite song because it was only 1 of like 4 songs I knew at the time. Now I'm nearing 20 and have listened to almost every song ever, this song is no longer my favorite, but it still holds a special place in my heart mainly because it defined my early childhood.

No matter how dark our lives seem at various stages this song reminds us that changes will take place that we never expect and the future may deliver us from our distress.

It's funny how this song, when only heard as 'background music' (*as it often is), sounds like just another happy little song they might play on a loop at your local CVS... and in a lot of ways, it IS that 'happy little song'... but yet, it is SO much more.

However, (and if you have read this far), when a 'deeper listen' is applied to this modern masterpiece, you soon realize this song delivers quite a deeply emotional & moving message.

And those of us who are lucky enough to have taken the time to pause, and really absorb & ponder the deep meaning of this song's masterfully written lyrics, are rewarded with the telling of the story of a man lucky enough to have lived a full life - not just in terms of quantity (100 years), but of quality.

I hope to, one day, to have lived, loved, & died as the 'the truly blessed man' that he sings about in this bittersweet song.

And happily (or perhaps it's actually sadly), I'm about half-way there.

note: This is one of a handful of songs that can often bring me to tears. And I feel that if a song can evoke such strong emotions/feelings, especially from the tear ducts of a middle-aged man as myself, then that songwriter is basically.... a legend!

my childhood song. never know it will be very meaningful to me now. at 15 i'm losing my father and it was the darkest moment in my life, at 22 i'm just finished my degree and move to the largest city in my country to find a job and it is not easy. now i'm 33 and i've never been better but still got a few moment thta always make me want to give up. life is tough but i will living my life gracefully 💜

This morning I was thinking about how music can help you heal...this song helped me mourn the loss of my father and my best friend who died of cancer within two months of one another. My losses were great...still are....this song helped me mourn and to remember how precious life is....how fortunate I was to have them as long as I did and how important it is to live life to the fullest with the time you have left....it's a one way trip. Enjoy it.

this song makes me ugly cry every time i listen to it because it just reminds me of how temporary our time here is and how during long days at school and work we wish the time would go by faster but when we realize how little time we have on earth we have to cherish and appreciate every single moment because soon it’ll be gone.
