Correction Ella in my opinion sang the version much better than Sarah in her 1957 session..

in my opinion this is a better version from Ella than the one she sang in 1957...she is not as emotionally as she was during the 1957 session..(leave the emotion for the audience) to enjoy...

Yes, I have Frank's version of this wonderful song, and I was living in The Bronx, New York when he first sang it.  Also, the version by Art Tatum and his sidemen, Ben Webster,Red Callendar and Bill Douglas is a masterpiece. I always consider and mention this as one of my favorite songs. There will never be another song of its like again. Sigh.

I heard this song tonight on "Forever" on ABC.

We saw Ella, Duke, The Count, and many, many more at the Red Hill Inn in South Jersey....What a great time at a great place.....

When Ella passed away, I really cried.

I agree 100%. She's my favourite female Jazz singer by some distance.

Ella certainly was one of the finest female singers of all time. She left us with a wonderful legacy.

I love Sinatra, and many of his versions of standards are the best ever, but in terms of this one, Ella's is in my view way ahead of the competition. And that includes Frankie.

It's the unearthly loveliness of her voice sin't it Dowdye47, combined with that quite rare gift for singing straight from the heart, the soul, I can't see there ever being another singer quite like Ella.

Hard to argue with you on that.

Yes, I've listened to the great version by Sinatra, and as I said, I listened to his version also.......before I listened to Ella's. :)

When I'm cruising youtube to hear a standard song that I know already that I like, and see that Ella has a version of it. I usually listen to versions by other vocalists that I like alot first, because I know, once I hear Ella's version, it'll be a long time before I can bring myself to listen to anyone elses.

For me easily the best version of this song, I simply can't imagine it ever being bettered, such is the purity, sincerity and romantic beauty of Ella's voice here.

Imagine how blown my mind was when, waiting for my soon to be bride to come down the isle, the door opens and this song starts to play!
