this hits way harder than the original, bc, imo, the original sounded like, braggy? idk like "ugh my generation is a bunch of dumb druggies and im the only sober one look at me im straight edge" type shit like. fidlar truly, unapologetically made it their own, and i appreciate that a lot, as someone who relates to the lyrics of this version A LOT more.

while i don't particularly like the style (sorry, not my type), I do like the change in perspective. I've always related to Billie's version: A lot of my friends and some family do drugs, and I never have and have such a fear of it. However, I do understand the urge to self medicate, to make yourself feel better in some way. The change in perspective, and in a way the harshness of the song's tone along with it, does offer an understanding of what it's like to be the one needing the drugs. Billie's song is a concerned ballad for a friend who has clearly developed a harmful habit, while this version is a broken plead for the one thing this person feels they have left. It's so sad to hear both when you know the situation so well.

You don’t understand. instead of doing some boring acoustic cover or playing the song note for note, they made it their own by playing it how FIDLAR would play it. Not to mention the change of lyrics work from Zac’s (The Singer) perspective seeing as to how he was raped when he was young, lost his girlfriend and his child to an overdose, and how he overdosed 2 times in 1 week.
