Fastball - We're On Our Way Lyrics

Dream, dream up a new song
One you can sing when
You're feeling down
Float out on a jet stream
Into my blood stream
I'll never come down

Took my head apart to try to understand your point of view
It's not easy to be open to the things you say
But that was yesterday, we're on our way

Bounce
Off of a backboard
Nails on a chalkboard
That's how we sound
Blown out on a Tuesday
I'm feeling like Friday
Will never come round

Took my head apart to try to understand your point of view
It's not easy to be open to the things you say
But that was yesterday, we're on our way

I'll break free
I'll glow in the dark
I'll learn how to fly
I'll find my way around
The obstacles
The obstacles
The obstacles
The obstacles

Took my head apart to try to understand your point of view
It's not easy to be open to the things you say
But that was yesterday, we're on our way
That was yesterday, we're on our way
That was yesterday, we're on our way

  3. 2.... ....

Great song! Sounds a little like The Psychedelic Furs. Ya know, "Pretty in pink..." Love it!!!

Son increibles !! Los sigo desde los 12 años cuando escuche the way en Mtv. toda una vida !! Saludos desde Uruguay !

It's cool to see Tony jamming out on the bass again, he plays the 6-string much more often nowadays. His work in their first album, Make Your Mama Proud, is actually pretty impressive. That was way different music from what they put out now, though.

  6. F.... W....

Fantastic song by a criminally underrated band!

  7. J.... ....

Oh hey, new lyrics to learn! Awesome!

I heard The Way on the radio for the first time in a long time and I wondered "Whatever happened to Fastball?" So I Googled them and this was their most recent single. So I gave it a listen. It's not as good as The Way, but it's better than 90% of what's on the radio today. Much respect for a power trio that can sound so tight.

Steve Someone I could not agree more. I am 52 years old and my main musical likes were 1986 and before, but this band is really good and as you said better than 90% over anything that is coming out really since 2000

  33. m.... ....

    m.... ....

memymu Me too! World's Most Underrated Band

  34. T.... ....

Something special about seeing Tony rocking out on bass again!

    T.... ....

Yeah, I was thinkin the same thing. I think they made Tony play bass for the video, to depict them as a 3 piece band.

    T.... ....

He also handled all of the bass playing on the new record, probably for financial reasons but I'm glad he did because he's up there in the echelon of modern bass players. Such a way with a melody, welcome back Tony!

    T.... ....

I donno... the bassist on their previous album Little White Lies, was pretty fuckin good!

    T.... ....

Absolutely but Tony has always been a favorite of mine. His licks on stuff like Fire Escape is killer.

    T.... ....

I'm curious if Tony played the bass for the whole album. I'll have to read the credits on the album to be sure. This album is great & I'm realizing which songs are the best on this record. I'll be honest, I hated the music video for the song Love Comes In Waves, but I loved the music video for the song I Will Never Let You Down. I think the reason why they had Tony play bass in the video is cause they didn't want an unfamiliar face on the bass (haha rhyme unintended ). In all their music videos it's always been Tony Scalzo, Miles Zuniga, & Joey Shuffield. They don't have a permanent bassist that's why on their official band website, fastballtheband.com doesn't mention a fourth member, just three members. It reads exactly like this THE BAND

    MILES ZUNIGA

    Vocals, Guitar

    TONY SCALZO

    Vocals, Bass, Keyboards, Guitar

    JOEY SHUFFIELD

    Drums, Percussion

I'm a huge Fastball fan & I think they don't get enough recognition as they should be getting. Most people think they're just a one hit wonder band which I think couldn't be more far from the truth. Tony & Miles are so talented with songwriting, song structure, & Joey brings completes the signature Fastball sound with his "MISS NO BEAT" drumming. Joey Shuffield is never a disappointment when you see him live & he always surprises me with the way he approaches a song on the drums. No one can dispute that Joey Shuffield is a solid fuckin drummer!

  35. l.... ....

Love the song. And the whole album is amazing by the way.

  36. M.... ....

    Resisting... urge to share... aaaaaaggggghhhhhh!!!!
