My favourite song from Donald Fagen. It's exquisite, very elaborate harmonic scale full of diminished and dissonant chords and back to the main theme. You don't know if you're coming or going. Genius.

Oddest memories. Spring ‘83. NC State is on this improbable run for the national championship in basketball. This song is on the radio a fair amount. Saw The Dan play this in 2017–blissful.

Edward Sholar I haven’t heard of that one. Players on that State team are from the same area. Their story is chronicled in a 30 for 30 on ESPN. A great episode.

I have loved this song since I heard it when I was 16, almost 40 years ago now. I still don't know exactly why but it kind of made me sad even way back then. It still does now, something melancholy about it.

I've always loved this song, ever since I saw this video for the first time back in my native Guatemala in the early or mid 80s. I grew up watching american tv series, dubbed into Spanish. For me the metaphor of the "New Frontier" was coming to live in the USA, so I made it! I've been here for since 1992 and it's been a pretty good ride and still going on strong. I like to go to places where they play disco music and 80s music because I just fantasize that I was here even before I arrived, dancing to the music that I was already listening abroad!

Love that General near the end, boasting about protecting the USA (in front of map), then Soviet missiles appear, and he's cursing, then more arrive and surround him, and he pulls out his Patton-like pistols and shoots them away. A good take on the crises of the early 1960's (Berlin & Cuban).

This video is so creative and fun to watch. I love the tribute to Dave Brubeck. The album is timeless. I love Steely Dan and I love Donald Fagen! Such a cute video with them grooving in the fall out shelter.
