Everything But The Girl - Driving Lyrics
Oh loverboy To you I belong
But maybe one day you'll wake
and you'll find me gone
But loverboy
If you call me home
I'll come driving
I'll come driving
Fast as wheels can turn
Oh loverboy I know you too well
and all of my lonely secrets
To you I tell
The highest of highs
The lowest of lows
I'll come driving
Fast as wheels can turn
Stretching away as far as my eyes can see
Deserts and darkness, my hand on the wheel
Loverboy, please call me home
A girl can get lonely out here on the road
You see Some days I find the old ways
Frighten me too easily
I leave my key and say "I'm too young"
But loverboy
If you call me home
I'll come driving fast as wheels can turn

I SO LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!! YEARS AGO I WENT TO BUY A CAR AND I ASKED THE SALESMAN IF I COULD TEST THE SOUND SYSTEM WITH A CD. IT WAS THIS CD!!!!! LEFT THAT DAY WITH A BMW. THANK YOU
Oh how my heart beats faster when I listen to this song! Tracey's voice is remarkable, just amazing!

I love this song
I miss 80's/90's music. Some really good stuff!
The bass is tasteful on this one !!
that " ha ha ha ha ha " is not taken from the Laurie Anderson " O Superman " song ?
I had heard this tune by accident on the radio in my truck long ago, when I was DRIVING, and like always when you wait till the end of the song hoping they say who it's done by, and you know how that goes, they never do. So I actually called the radio station and I found out! Next I went to my favorite record store, (a really nice girl and her dad's record business) and she hooked me up with the CD. She turned me on to other discs by EBTG and said she liked their music as well. Sweet! And yes, she is!
What a lovely story!
Doesn't matter what genre of music, this is a good song.
Damn... I miss good grown folks music
Um luxo só.👏👏👏👏👏👏

I just played this song 8 times in a row. Thank you Tracy, thank you Ben, thank you Los Angeles.
Nice song and she's got a great voice.
1:49 2:02 it always seemed an awesome bridge to me
Love this song, also is it just me or does the "Ha ha ha" vocals at the beginning of the song sound similar to Laurie Anderson's 1982 hit "O Superman"?
I cannot express how much I love this group they are fantastic and at 1:50 it still gives me chills that sax wow. Listening to them always makes me happy. This is one of the best songs ever. Thanks.
"STUPENDA" una delle mie preferite e poi fa parte della mia adolescenza😭😭❤

Love this! It was my 'go to' for all kinds of corporate events and fundraisers I used to produce--it sets a very positive vibe. Perfect every time! Of course it is still a favorite away from work ...

Just a great song. Doesn't matter what genre of music you like.
My very first, and still the best exposure to EBTG. This was a voice to fall in love with.
That segment of the song from 1:28 until 2:18 is just magical !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First heard this song while working in a grocery store at nineteen.
This takes me back to the one that got away from me when she loved me with everything she had,but I was too insecure in myself to believe in her or us.
feita la señora Tracey, pero eso si que voz y que talento, que muchas niñas bonitas y prefabricadas de la industria musical actual quisieran tener, lo mismo el contenido de sus canciones.
Man...I love this musical-genre...and I miss it. I comically called it "English Mama's Boy Pop". But I really do miss these folks and others like Deacon Blue, Aztec Camera, Modern English and especially Prefab Sprout. Thank God Sade and Lloyd Cole can still be found...
Her voice is so smooth and the music behind her so relaxing
I think this is their best song.
Great song it brings me back to when love was simple!
elements of jazz ; smooth and contemporary.
several versions out there...one of , if not, the best
I love this album
As A child I grew up to everything be the girl music my name is Josephine
As a previous on air radio DJ who was on the air back in the 90's and in the mid to late 70's this is truly a a personal favorite tune and Ms. Tracey Thorn's voice is simply incredible in this and the groups other hit Missing. But I really enjoy this tune .
I,love Ebtg
I remember playing this back in the day, in my 87 honda accord with the moon roof open on the Galveston seawall at night, with Tears for fears, and a full moon. True spiritual peace.

First heard this on VH1 in the early nineties. It was on their Sunday Brunch program and I was bed ridden with walking pneumonia. I became an instant and loyal fan.
I remember hearing that on The Quiet Storm back in the late eighties dearly nineties. great sound love the intro

I fell in love with this song immediately after I heard it...excellent classic from 1990
This song is a soothing, hypnotic tune!!!!
I forget what an incredible band they were/are. Tracey's voice is so mesmerizing, and this song in particular-the melody absolutely gives me chills.
I heard thus song many years ago when I was in red lobster and I had to have this song
Tamarje81 funny how that happens. I got hung up on Restless Heart's "I'll still be loving you" while stuck on the tarmac in Madison WI in the snow on the way home to TN for Christmas back in...'85, I think? Unforgettable like this one!
Well I have heard this from a kid and I'm really wanting to see if she found what she was looking for back then, great song!

Love the drums in this song.
Good ear and feel. They hired an all star line up to come in and do the session work on this album. Mostly professionals from the fusion/smooth jazz era mostly from the Americas. Omar Hakim/Vinnie Colaiuta: DrumsJohn Patitucci: Bass, Joe Sample/Russell Ferrante: Pianos, Michael Brecker, Stan Getz, Crazy. If they would have had this line up on live shows then I would have went and saw them for sure.
