Going for the Pete Nice look when this came out. Yes 3rd Bass was first. I remember seeing Divine Styler and the Scheme Team at party's in the Valley. Everlast is from Reseda (Karate Kid). Supposedly Divine was the one who got Everlast into rap.

No I think he or his team were trying to find his style period. If you see his other old video from back then called "Syndication" totally more natural clothing style and rap. This is more like Rick Astley or Robert Palmer which are both before 3rd Bass. So they've might've been considering marketing him to a white pop audience since Wild Thing from Tone Loc had crossed over. So they were trying capitalize but with imagery of past popular MTV clean cut acts.
