Evancho, Jackie - Caruso Lyrics

Since the age of 10, Jackie has had an uncanny insight to the character and meaning of a song, regardless that she may not have fully understood the lyrics. A couple of examples are Imaginer (French) and Mi Mancherai (Italian). Caruso (Italian) is a story of the pain and longings of a man who is about to die while he is looking into the eyes of a girl who was very dear to him. I think she interprets that perfectly with what I would call "soft power" and a certain innate sensitivity to what she imagines to be the emotion of a dying man. I would not be as convinced by a more dynamic and powerful performance representing a man taking his last breaths. I think listeners are often more impressed with exaggerated vocal prowess than with what is an appropriate interpretation. And, Jackie's interpretations have always been appropriate, in my opinion, particularly this song which she performs with finesse. She was only 16 at the time of this performance.

Yes, Jackie has never tried to imitate anyone's style, but makes each cover unique with her own interpretation. That's part of her genius.

Not the lyrics(I don't understand), not the melody. It's her voice that told me that it's a sad song(I still haven't confirmed yet). It's so magical. She's a genius, that's the biggest thought I get while listening to this.

Why is K-pop more popular than this?

Different people have differing musical tastes. It seems that the vast majority does not appreciate complexities in music and do not appreciate the delights of a beautiful voice, just 'noise', as with so many highly popular singers - I cite no names.
Jackie will never be the most popular and she flies under the radar of the masses. She will always be loved and appreciated for the wonderful gift she shares with us though.

This performance was truly wonderful. A gifted singer. As good as it gets! One of the finest young singers on the world stage today. There are only a handful of brilliant young women singing classics at the moment and Jackie certainly rates with the best. I consider this REAL singing, as distinct from the over-the-top rubbish you hear on Eurovision and The Grammys etc. I'd listen to Jackie and Amira in particular all day long (and night too). I wish some of their respective supporters would stop comparing them and criticising the other. They are both magnificent. Jackie is four years older so has more experience and that makes a difference in their presentation. Amira is still at school, so has a long way to go in her career, that's if she wants it to be her career. She may study law instead. Who knows what the future holds, for any of them. We just have to enjoy their beautiful music while it lasts. Lucky us!

@Rehoboth He can sing good enough to have a tremendous career already. He's much better known than her and dueting with Jackie would certainly be another boost in her musical profile. Unfortunately he appears to prefer singing with people that have had formal vocal training and doesn't view Jackie as his caliber of singer or of big enough stature. He did duet with Celine Dion and probably thinks singing with Jackie would be a step backwards in his career.

whatever anyone is willing to pay. Several years ago, I believe an unopened SIGNED one sold for $4,100 or $4,700. Once it hit that price, anyone now has to be concerned for whether or not the next one would be an authentic copy. While I think you could get one for less these days, I haven't seen any for sale. In the years to come, it should gain in value, since her voice is THAT spectacular, and her career will be equally so.

There was at least one sold for $8,000 a couple of years ago.

When Jackie sings it seems so effortless. My wife and I have followed Jackie since we saw her on America has talent. I think she is fortunate that she has a style and a voice that is timeless. I don't think this Angel could do anything other than amaze me and so many others. As I said already seeing her do these songs live was one of the most phenomenal things I've ever seen or heard in my life. I can easily say to all of you that love listening to her on you tube and on her CDs that you need to somehow get to one of her concerts and then you will fully understand what I'm saying.
