I previously thought Sam Cooke was untouchable as a vocalist. As much as I still love Sam, Listening to Eva shows that to be false. Her voice is truly a perfect instrument that she uses to style her unique and devastatingly gorgeous phrasing. Incredible vocalist and interpreter, wish I'd had the chance to see her perform live.

2019 And if not for one beautiful lady mudlarker in London played Eva’s music on one of her videos I would have never heard this amazing voice. So I will forever be great full to one Nicola White.

Eva Cassidy was the lead singer for a band that I and my wife-to-be hired for our wedding reception in the fall of 1986 (years before she was famous). We had booked them months in advance -- not because she was famous, that would come at least 10 years later -- but because that's what you did, planning a wedding. (I wanted to hire Root Boy Slim, but Donna said, "No frickin' way." The band cost $700, including the agent's fee, and it had broken up by the time we got married.. But they were good to their commitment. Eva showed up in a cast (broken leg) and sang every song sitting down. They rocked that Hilton ballroom in Fairfax County, and she blew away every one of our guests. None of you have ever heard her sing, "Ain't to Proud to Beg," but I have, because she did at our reception, and I have a video to prove it. RIP Eva, you were amazing then and now!

So many people - myself included - didn't discover Eva until after her death. For me, it was a story on NPR. There is a video of Mick Fleetwood talking about her that explains why she wasn't better known.

I have the HQ 180grain songbird album i bought from a member over at Audiokarma and it is by far one of the best albums ive ever heard male or female,,,there are very few who are as gifted as she was, but her other traits,,her humbleness and down to earth style leaves me thinking that she could have been a gift from the man above,,Her music touches most people the first time they hear her sing,, and most want others to know of her just her story alone is inspiring but when one hears,, well any tbh,,:) it was amazing in my case because i bought her record when a true music lover i knew suggested her album was a steal after i noted it was pricey to him,,and he tells me just how much it was worth to discover her ,, that advice was priceless and i dropped that reord for a spin on a late 70s Mitsubishi TT i had restored and found the best female vocalist ive ever heard. I may be bias as i truly like the female vocalist style of music more than any,, anything singer songwriter tends to always be my favorites,, well imo i think that shows just how good she was, because being number one among the many great female vocalist is quite something,,as i could never choose a 1st before hearing Eva,,If you ever get a chance to listen to her on a analogue format like a record or reel to reel tape please do, you will be glad you did its quite a moving experience and as good as it gets in my book.

Hendrik,when I first set eyes on my Wife at the then local roller skating rink,as I walked in through the doors,she was among a hundred skaters, all going around the floor,in anti-clockwise direction.
As I looked around on entering the building at lots of lovely girls,one skater caught my eye,and I knew that second as I watched her go by..she would be mine!
The following week,I didn't go...the week after that...I did go...and I took my girl home....met her Mother that night...went for my tea the next Saturday afternoon,as was customary,a long time ago,in the Coalmining communities,in Northumberland U.K....[in 1962]
I was 17 yrs old,my girl was 16 yrs old,we were both like-minded ,in music,walking,chatting,etc..
We were courting five years,have been married fifty-two years,and she is STILL the one I look at with the same feelings I had when I met her 57 years ago!
In my part of the world we say "I dote on her"!
You and me are both touched by Eva's beautiful voice and guitar playing.
When I watch Eva playing and singing,I wish I could play the way she does effortlessly,and I have played guitar 60 years!
