Eric Clapton - Key To The Highway Lyrics
I got the key to the highway,
Billed out and bound to go.
I'm gonna leave here running;
Walking is most too slow.
Woman, where I'm better known.
You know you haven't done nothing,
Drove a good man away from home.
[Live Verse]
When the moon peeks over the mountains
I'll be on my way.
I'm gonna roam this old highway
Until the break of day.
Just before I go,
'Cause when I leave this time you know I,
I won't be back no more.
[Repeat First Verse]
[Repeat Second Verse]

Eric Clapton Key To The Highway Comments
Why couldn't the camera person have a slow hand.......???
YESSS !!
BLUES RULE !!!!!!!!
Wonderful music, but... Kill the camera man! Was he dancing? In addition to Eric Clapton, there is a brilliant accompaniment of keyboards, and despite the fact that he made a solo, he never appeared on the scene. The drummer is not seen either.
🎸🎼🎸
.............................................LOVE
I Live the Key....................
Piano out of tune
The version on derik and the dominoes in concert is MY favorite. He also does pretty good on bottle of red wine...check out the drum solo on let it rain!

100 people have no frickin clue what real music is about. What a masterpiece right here!
A cool uptempo version . I like the key he is playing in. Great Swagger .
delicious solos
Does anyone know how Eric got the name slowhand and what person gave it to him ? I do
No matter what period of his career Clapton has always played this song well.
oh man this was one I hadn't heard before. He killed it playing the Blues - there is nothing this man cannot do with guitar!!
GraziePino, solo un Gigante come te poteva portare tanta gioia e luce in questo disastro di paese
what a great version of this song, so many great licks in here !
Mr. eric Clapton ...Just one of the MOST BRILLIANT alround Musician EVER lived
Willy Weeks was born 30 miles down the road from me North Carolina
Clapton is true country
how's that !
Thank You, Great!!!!
Not bad for an old man!
Thank you Sir Eric Clapton. You are the man!!! Lol
I like this performance but the camera work is poor. No focus on anyone other than EC and Willy Weeks who happens to be in direct line with EC. You see nothing of Chris Stainton during his solo.
Possibly my favorite Derek the Dominus song, or maybe Nobody Knows (when you're down & out) .........https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0vVSzr1ee4
Anybody who doesn't know who Eric Clapton is...need I say more
Greatest Guitarist ever!
Pure Bliss !!!!
untitled the album is going to be majestic
Nice to read al the love or EC..
This will always be my favourite song of all time
C'ero a quel concerto. Grande Eric!!!!
Thanks Eric. I've seen you many times on stage. You have always turned out to be the best, by far. Cheers man!
good version! as usual Eric! in che occasione fu ripresa?
Maybe the best live Clapton I've seen. Back in about 1970 I saw him at the Olympia stadium I'm Detroit, the very old home of the Red Wings. Great concert. Who opened? Carlos Santana. Are you kidding me? This was a show! I used to afford a concert in the old days. Now it's ridiculous. Can you imagine what it would cost to see Clapton and Santana in the same show now. The seats I had at Olympia? I'd have to mortgage my house...
I love this guy.He is the best there is.
Hmmmm.......the techs say you can't get decent tone using a belt pack with your guitar eh? Clapton doesn't seem to have any problem! Perhaps they were using crap quality belt packs?
WOW sound
This man created loud rocking blues with Cream's version of Crossroads. It's damn hard not to love it.
Masters at work. All of them.
God of Guitar..❤ Amazing
Man,I love rockin blues, and this guy is the master.
Great video quality.
clapton is god
This has got to be one of the best performances of key to the highway I've ever seen from Clapton. Awesome.
The first team. Love that Chris Stainton!
FANTASTIC MUSIC AS ALWAYS, SUGAR AND SPICE BAND NANAIMO B.C.
When I grow up i want to be eric clapton
So good!
This music makes me very happy.
What gets me about Eric is not that he's so good, it's that he makes it look so easy.
Is this even blues
Is this even a comment?
anyone know what key he's using? I can't get close to his tone in A on the shuffle...hep me?
It is in A but it is an 8 bar blues. I find A - E - D - A repeated works quite well but some people use A - E - D - D7 - A- E - A - E repeated. There are plenty of "How to Play" lessons on this song on YouTube. Also see https://www.azchords.com/e/ericclapton-tabs-1348/keytothehighway-tabs-177952.html for a basic idea.
Thanks bro'
thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love good fan videos like this.
Make music great again !!!
8 bars of joy
wow great ...I love this..nway I'm shayne...
.......XXXXXXXxxxxxxx...... MASTER .......xxxxxxXXXXXXXXX
love it.
so good!
the melodic phrasing sounds a bit similar with 'Come On In My Kitchen' by Robert Johnson
Where can I see the entire performance this song was taken from?Does anyone know
I've run across a couple of these on you tube concerts but can't remember where. One good one to check out is the Japanese concert. You just have to spend an evening clicking through them all. 'Not something everybody wants to invest their precious time in doing but since I'm a guitarist I could ((and DO))spend endless hours jamming along with him... It's a pleasure! I'm re-writing this one at the moment so that it fits my mindset.
Karl Fleddermann i think it might be crossroads blues festival, not sure which year though
Just amazing, what a band, what an arrangement, what a sound, what innovation by a master guitarist. Have played this a dozen times and it just gets better. Great song and Eric at his best.
clapton turning around at 0:15 is basically his way of saying
"m8, that drum roll and lead in with the bass guitar fitted exactly into my timing, fucking well done, now let's do this....LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRROY MMMMMMMMMJEEEEEEEEEEEENKINS"
Leroy Jenkins LEEEEEEEROY CLAPTON!
Feeling it Bro
And yet it works perfect 😂
one of the most awesome songs ever
Blues 101. I agree.
Kick ass!
Some fine blues from Ole Slow Hand.
Ive listened to many of Eric;s albums and this to me is the bet version of Key to the Highway..
seems like all the old "rockers" the "baby boomers" still got it......
Its funny how the how our now Generation is playing the 60's and 70's rock
I just realized Eric is playing a Tele for this version..awesome
Ed Howard... he's always used this guitar wtf??
Ed Howard that’s a Clapton custom Strat!
Is Eric playing over the Bogner amp? That would be a big surprise but his sound is great, not as fizzy as when he used a Soldano.
Why am I the only one who thinks this is lazy. His tone is horrible and his pentatonic phrasing is prototypical. I respect Clapton for much of his work but come on man... I've been to several Clapton gigs and I thought the best were with Trucks, Bramhall II, and Preston. This is a bore... I've seen better versions of this at fire halls
Wow another wannabe purist. Just enjoy the music
Grande pezzo!
ildedoni, you are going to tell Eric Clapton how to play a song!!! Dude! I don't know who you are but no one can play a guitar better than Eric Clapton............He makes every song his own. I wish I could do that. He knows how to play anything then he makes it his own!! Awesome musician and artist!
This is a 8 bar blues not a 12 bar. I'm sure Eric really dug Stevie Ray.
just shows how a simple 12 bar blues can be tweaked with turnarounds and switching between pick ups. He always manages to put in a different flavour, wheras I found Stevie Ray Vaughan got quite repetitive
This one happens to be an 8-bar blues. Count 'em out! It's even more remarkable that Clapton doesn't repeat himself in this form.
Yes I acknowledged my error in an earlier post
Leroy Jenkins qq
@ildedoni lol burn
When you don't know the difference between 8 bar and12 Bar Blues but you still got to criticize someone. And on top of it you pick SRV to diss on. Cracks me up
Lots of moths in your dressing room, Eric? Just looking at your pants and wonderin'.
+Scott Boydle Its all Eric can afford he has to keep buying them expensive guitars - being a poor ol blues player, well a great ol blues player. Cheers
Just awesome. Love it!
Very good....
Always amazes me how quickly he switches pickups and dimes the volume at 2:02
+MattyBEightyThree If you watch, he doesn't touch the pickup select switch. Its still on the middle pickup.
You're right - my mistake.
Clapton grows like wine !
+qsdf qsdf quello buono,però!
Meh. Wine is always better with Cream.
steve gadd on the drums?
@Ariel C Yep, that's GOD alright. :)
It certainly IS...
Tutti li in prima fila.
