Eric Clapton - Double Trouble Lyrics

[Chorus:]
Lay awake at night,
Oh so low, just so troubled.
Can't get a job,
Laid off and I'm having double trouble.

Hey hey, to make you've got to try.
Baby, that's no lie.
Some of this generation is millionaires;
I can't even keep decent clothes to wear.

Laugh at me walking,
And I have no place to go.
Bad luck and trouble has taken me;
I have no money to show.

[Chorus]

  3. a.... p....

For me, nobody plays guitar with this much emotions and pain, I mean nobody..!!! He's just a gem!!!!!!!

  4. j.... ....

I felt every piece of Clapton’s performance! OMG, simply amazing!!!

  5. c.... ....

I know Clapton will never see this but. Wow!! the best I've ever heard from him I believe. Simply amazing.

ça c'est du blues et du très bon CLAPTON et que dire de la strat BLACKIE

  10. P.... B....

    Guitar orgasm .

  11. V.... T....

I know it's a big statement, but this is quite possibly the best solo Clapton has ever played.

    V.... T....

    completely agree!!!!!

  12. M.... D....

All I hear about these days is Joe Bonamassa. He doesn’t even compare to Clapton.

  13. A.... M....

Not many people can cover Hendrix...Stevie Ray Vaughan could.

Not many people can cover Stevie...
    Clapton can.

  14. B.... H....

Some of his best work here alongside the Bluesbreakers, Cream, Dominoes, and From the Cradle. People always comment on how Clapton lost his feeling and tone after Cream. I think he did in a way, though for the better, contrary to what people think. He dropped the high-profile, fast pentatonic licks/turn-arounds type playing that you can see today if you go see Joe Bonamassa. As a result, Clapton has developed into someone different, a different type of guitar god, I guess. Instead of playing many notes, his playing is slower, more nuanced, and allows him to hit all the right notes to make the guitar weep: how the blues should be played (see B.B King, Freddie King, John Lee Hooker...etc. they didn't play very fast but surely made the guitar sing). There are enough people who play fast (Yngwie Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, Marty Friedman), and every couple of years there will be a new person who plays as fast as the last. As Ritchie Blackmore once said, "wow you played amazing, so quick!" means you had lots of time to spend with a metronome and a guitar, while "I don't know what you did but your playing made me feel something" means that you touched someone's soul with the guitar, Ritchie says he prefers the latter and so do I. Clapton is god!

  15. J.... Z....

I love it when Steve glances up at Mr. Clapton and smiles. He must be thinking, this guy I've got playing guitar for me is REALLY good.

  16. H.... W....

  22. G.... M....

Eric seems 2 always push it on this blues number.

  23. J.... B....

If Clapton is not God...I don't what it is.

  24. a.... ....

Brilliant version of the Otis Rush masterpiece from the 50s and is as close to the original as you can get.

  25. b.... ....

Otis Rush was a real bluesman. Here Clapton proves that he not only listened to him, he HEARD him!

  26. M.... M....

    Never sounded better .

  27. R.... H....

  34. S.... ....

The first time I heard Eric playing Double Trouble was on "No Reason To Cry" many years ago and then on The Old Grey Whistle Test just love that song. Sometimes it's in your face and some times he underplays it but it's always great.

  35. F.... F....

    ♥♥♥

  36. R.... V....

A master Craftsman at Work! sublime Blues.

  37. J.... O....

At 4:30 and onward, Eric was completely "Lost in the Moment", heart and soul was all in and that guitar was just simply another part of his body, wow!

  38. G.... p....

We have to thank God that guy exists , the greatest guitarist i've ever seen.

  39. b.... ....

I understand evolving and tastes changing, but I really wish Clapton wouldn't have totally abandoned that 2nd-position Strat sound that was an integral part of making him so distinctive over the course of his solo career. This is a solid performance and I thoroughly enjoyed it (although it definitely feels rushed), but to me his tone here in the middle spot cannot hold a candle to what he achieved on "Just One Night" and it's just sort of offputting, honestly.

  40. I.... S....

    Amazing

  41. m.... m....

Now I know why his guitars sell for that much😀

  42. B.... H....

nobody can not blay lead guitar like clapton top 1 offcours !!

  43. J.... B....

    Legend... Don't get old

  44. B.... H....

WHEN I SAY I DO ALL THOS I ADMIRE THEY WILL BE THERE BIG CONCERT I WILL MAKE THAT HAPPEN CHANGE THE WORLD IF I COME BACK TO THE STATES MY AMERICA OR THEY WILL BE THERE THEY WILL DO THAT HAPPLY FOR ONE GOD LOVES THEM !!!

  45. M.... P....

Clapton surely sold his soul to the devil to play like this. And he has paid dearly throughout his troubled life. But lucky us. Thank you Eric. Your mentors are smiling wherever they are.

  46. G.... ....

Uno degli assoli più belli della storia del Rock

  47. B.... ....

CLAPTON'S VOICE HAS GOTTEN SOOO MUCH MORE STRONG & CONFIDENT SINCE HE RECORDED "HAVE YOU HEARD"... HE REALLY OWNS A VERY TUFF SONG TO SING WELL !!

    B.... ....

Moon River with Beck is awesome.

  48. J.... ....

It's easy for people like me who grew up on Cream and Derek and the Dominos to lament Clapton's subsequent recordings. . . many of them seem so bland by comparison. But when I hear something like this, I've got to hand it to him-- there's no doubt he's still a Blues master. And at the same time, I can't help but feel sad for Otis Rush, a titan who deserved far greater recognition and financial reward.

    J.... ....

Clapton (this song, in fact) introduced me to Otis Rush, who is now one of my favorite artists too. Love Rush so very much... Wish everybody knew about him, I try to play him for people who will listen. Brilliant musician

  49. k.... ....

    For me, best solo ever!

    k.... ....

koldfish, one of the best, without a doubt.

  60. A.... V....

    Brings a chill and tears

  61. G.... V....

Quando hai voglia di ascoltare.......MUSICA 💚

  62. A.... H....

Yes. Similar as a Lexus is to a Mercedes. A Lexus will never be a Mercedes, as Clapton will never be an Otis Rush. And he's done the mimic job for many other blues guitarists.

  63. S.... P....

    Love the bass.

  64. B.... R....

    my blues !!

  65. A.... H....

Eric has been a great mimic for years. I first realized this when he ripped off Albert King on Strange Fruit, with Cream. Here he is channeling Otis Rush, and even mispronounces the word 'millionaires' like Otis did. Otis played a ES-355 strung for a right hander, but plays lefty. I believe this is what gave him the most incredible vibrato I ever heard, it would give me chills. Eric is no Otis Rush, but he is good. I'm from Chicago and went to see Otis many a late night in the good old days.

    A.... H....

Eric Clapton is a "great mimic"? That is absolutely the most laughable comment/opinion that I've ever seen on YouTube.

    A.... H....

Alfred H "Strange fruit" lol. I think you mean strange brew. Just shows how much you know about Clapton.

    A.... H....

    Alfred H hahaha

    A.... H....

  66. A.... C....

  89. A.... B....

i cant stop watching Eric clapton, i am a blues guitar player and i have composed many blues songs of my own, my rythm, my solo, my lyrics., and Eric clapton has alywas been my mentor, and still, and i am from Saudi Arabia, and the culture of the blues is really rare, thats why i am sad, but i have a plan, i am trying to introduce my community to the blues, so i will be the first one, and who knows, maybe some American companies could invest this music here. but if i make this come true. i will be proud of my self. please pray for me <3

    A.... B....

Abadez Blues , thank you for helping to.keep the culture of the blues alive.

    A.... B....

@daryl boughner Thanks a lot buddy. i really love to do that. now i do have composed 7 songs of mine. between Blues and Rock. If you would like to hear it you can visit my facebook profile. if you like <3

    A.... B....

Keep playing the blues. It's a universal language

    A.... B....

I can not imagine blues music in Saudi Arabia

    A.... B....

@Gary Wright ... sometimes when I hear the blues for some odd reason I feel sad.

  90. G.... D....

All in all, this is an excellent performance by Eric and I love the fact that his guitar is prominent in the mix. In my opinion, it is sometimes not loud enough and tends to get drowned out by the other musicians. I also love Eric's version of this song on Just One Night, a live album recorded in Japan in the late 1970s. You can also listen to it on Youtube.

  91. S.... ....

Nearly the best I ever heard

  92. T.... C....

Un des plus grands solos de Clapton. Habité par le blues, encore plus qu'à l'époque de Cream, et avec une finesse dans le jeu littéralement stupéfiante. Un must absolu.

  93. m.... ....

The first time I heard this was one night driving home in my car. It was taken from his Live Album "Just one Night". The DJ said, in his opinion Clapton had lost the Blues feeling. It made me laugh. I had never heard a Blues being played like that before. Some days later I bought the LP just because of this song. And until now I think it was the best thing I have ever heard from him. To my mind he extended the borders of Blues with that.

    m.... ....

** Eric Clapton is Amazing, no friggin doubt !! .... but ------------ > NOTE TO SELF : Steve Windwood plays 12+ instruments proficiently and plays a Hammond B3 w/ Leslie LIKE NO OTHER ON THE PLANET ! done.

    https://youtu.be/nTJYkjrg594

    ** GOD Bless

    m.... ....

This song made me appreciate blues more and listen more.

    m.... ....

Can't lose the heartache and pain life throws at you and that's what makes a GREAT blues man and Eric has been threw loosing his son it's no wonder why he's 1 of the best.

    m.... ....

Well that DJ has no clue about the Blues or anything about the Blues Feel.....maybe he should go work in produce at a market.

    m.... ....

You are 100% right with that comment mate, the most authentic and real blues he ever played, although this version isn"t the one I am talking about.

  94. J.... S....

I was lucky enough to be in the audience at this very show (the other nights "Double Trouble" videos (as well as the one on the official DVD of the Clapton-Winwood reunion) are shorter, and I remember how he played 4 minutes or more after the second verse/chorus, which this video has. It was the best concert I've ever been to, Clapton's playing was the best I have ever heard from him, and at one point in Double Trouble his playing was so intense and emotional, it literally brought me tot tears! This is the best guitar solo I think I have ever heard, and Clapton will always be the #1 blues guitarists for me. Thank God I was actually there to witness this masterpiece!

    J.... S....

Remember the night well. It was magic. Also loved Voodoo child that night.

  95. E.... D....

    THAT"S THE SHIT
finaly Clapton sounds like it should ........keep rising
