@Anna Vajda I agree Knopfler is a great guitarist, but he and Clapton have totally different styles and preferences so an apples-with-apples comparison of the two is irrelevant. Clapton's roots are in the blues.

I'll take Clapton any day over CCR. John Fogerty is a hypocrite because he talks against fossil fuels but spent his life taking advantage of fossil fuels....just like how Boulderites cry about fossil fuels while driving around in gas guzzling SUV's.

Since the song was written in 1957, I think it is more likely that Bo Diddley influenced Bob Marley!

Sounds a lot like Bob Marley's "Judge Not" I wouldn't be surprised if Clapton was influenced by that one as well. Love it!
