When Erasure performed in Brazil, I think it was 1989/90, me and a friend went to the airport to try to talk to them before they went to back to UK. We met them, and we talk to Andy. He was super nice (he was wearing Madonna’s Like a Prayer t shirt) and we talked how much we love Madonna.

Considering the conceptual nature of the very EP and the two exquisite videos being "Take a Chance On Me" and "Lay All Your Love On Me", it is too bad this video (and to an extent also the one for "Voulez-Vous") is so formal by comparison. Superb ABBA covers regardless... Erasure remain the perfect ABBA.

ABBA was so cool to let them use their music and they were/are known for being harsh! But Erasure totally nailed it and it wasn’t just a karaoke version, I think they made them their own, especially Voule Voi !!! I think it’s Andy’s unique voice and Vincent’s also unique way to make electronic music!
I’m wondering wether to watch them or not in Copenhagen (as Depeche Mode also is coming too, can’t afford both) damn 😓 !

They made more than one video for the Abba esquseqe EP I bet the record company were not happy about it. It takes a lot of balls to cover Abba songs even if it could have affected their credibility they did have the guts to do it.

They made four videos (one for each song, albeit three of them were very low budget), and I seriously doubt that Daniel Miller at Mute Records had a problem with this because he is all about artistic freedom. In fact, he probably thought it was a great idea because Erasure had been doing ABBA covers (different songs than these) on occasion for years during concerts for a special treat, and they were so good at it that this EP was practically a no-brainer.

Unfortunately, what actually took guts and cost Erasure their credibility was their self-titled album _Erasure_ . Personally, as an Erasure fan from the very start, I think this album contains some of their absolute finest, most brilliant work, but it flopped hard and turned a lot of people away from the band. I guess it wasn't what they wanted and/or expected from Erasure, which is obviously something very poppy. There is nothing wrong with catchy, poppy songs, but Vince and Andy wanted to do something different musically in this case (their take on ambient), they succeeded in spades, and I think the result is pretty darn catchy in any case, but sadly the public rejected it, while the ABBA covers hit #1.

Andy in this video and in the others, looks so handsome, wooow!! and I dont care if he consider himself as a gay, it doesnt matter, but the important here is his beautiful as a man. and of course he sings incredible, his tone of voice is cool !!!!

We all know Erasure film clips are terrible maybe the worst of all time ! Never really makes sense to the song why budget? I think but this cover is brilliant better then the original that's what erasure are good at brilliant cover songs 1 river deep mountain high 2 come up and see me sometime 3 Hall of the mountain king maybe they could pay a little more and get Anton Corbin to do a video LOL that be interesting ???

As for fancier Erasure videos, they've made a few. For instance, for this EP, "Lay All Your Love On Me" got one, and while it's undoubtedly silly, at least it's not like when Anton had Dave Gahan go into a brothel clean-shaven and come out sporting a mustache!
