The absolute lamest thing I've ever heard, what happened to this band

Could you please be more specific about what you found 'lame'? The bombastic, powerful sound? The catchy riff? The pounding pace? The interludes? The choir on the chorous? The subtle accordion overtones and folky passage during the solo? The intricate solo? I'm really curious as to how exactly you define lame! Ensiferum fan here since day one and I can tell you this: dunno how the rest of the album will stack up, but this particular song oozes the essence of what Ensiferum is about, and brings up fond memories of the first four albums... Of course, it's horses for courses and everyone is entitled to his opinion, however it'd be nice if you elaborated a bit. Maybe I'm missing something here... (or not!)

that fuckin opening guitar riff is horrible, it's 'catchy' like an std, it sounds like cock rock solo and it keeps coming back up throughout the songs WAY more times than it should, the rhythm guitar sounds like no thought was put into it, there no memorable melodies that use to define this band's sound like token of time or one more magic potion, now its a simple boring melody masked under big sounding choirs or synth parts to try and sound like more than it is , the middle part was decent but this is a flaccid, half assed attempt at progressing their music

Ensiferum is a great folk band and their music is very entertaining.I became ensiferum fan only for a short while because suddenly I became infatuated with Jari Maenpaa and start to dig in all his songs former bands including with arthemesia or lost alone or even cadacross.
Now I'm obssessed with Jari Maenpaa and the new Wintersun album ,Forest is fucking great and awesome !!! I dont care what other people think , I want to shout this ..... JARIIIIIIII .................................... I love you.......................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
