Eno, Brian - No One Receiving Lyrics

It will shine and it will shudder
As I guide it with my rudder
On its metaled ways
It will cut the night before it
As it leaves the day that saw it
On its metaled ways
Nobody passes us in the deep quiet of the dark sky
Nobody sees us alone out here among the stars

In these metal ways
In these metal days
In these metal ways
In these metal days
In these metal ways
In these metal days
In these metal ways
In these metal days

Through a fault of our designing
We are lost among the windings
Of these metal ways
Back to silence back to minus
With the purple sky behind us
In these metal ways
Nobody hears us when we're alone in the blue future
No one receiving the radio's splintered waves

In these metal ways
In these metal days
In these metal ways
In these metal days
In these metal ways
In these metal days
In these metal ways
In these metal days
In these metal ways
In these metal days
In these metal ways
In these metal ways
In these metal days

If David Byrne didn’t hear this and have the inspiration for Talking Heads, then I am a monkey’s uncle.

    Y.... B....

Talking Heads was formed and their debut album was released before this one.

    [Verse 1]
It will shine and it will shudder as I guide it with my rudder
    On its metalled ways
It will cut the night before it as it leaves the day that saw it
    On its metalled ways

Nobody passes us in the deep quiet
    Of the dark sky
Nobody sees us alone out here
    Among the stars

    [Chorus] x 4
    In these metal ways
    In these metal days

    [Verse 2]
Through a fault of our designing we are lost among the windings
    Of these metal ways
Back to silence back to minus with the purple sky behind us
    In these metal ways

Nobody hears us when we're alone
    In the blue future
No one receiving the radio's splintered waves

    [Chorus]

I would happily dance off a cliff to this song. ;)

You can hear Bowie and Talking Heads in this

You can hear this in Bowie and Talking Heads

Well, they sure crossed their paths - although this is more Bowie in Eno than Eno in Bowie. Sound a lot like "Stay" (which was a year before this one). A gorgeous song each, regardless... as for Talking Heads - in the year 1977 they were just releaseing their own debut - but no doubt this sure did inspire their later epic album "Fear Of Music" - and most especially "Remain In Light".

  13. J.... B....

    Smooth.

    J.... A....

James Anderson Haha, it's there. Good call.

    J.... A....

Cool thing is David Bowie probably never cared because he always held Eno in high regard!

    J.... A....

*If he used the same riff. Sorry if I wasn't clear lol

One of most well-mixed and layered albums ever, not to mention how strangely catchy every song is. Love everything about it.
