The reason this movie has better songs in it than the typical Elvis movie is because they aren't movie songs at all: They're actually regular studio session songs that were recorded one to three years earlier and used in this movie because the studio couldn't afford a soundtrack with new songs.

It’s because these were pulled from his non soundtrack albums from the early ‘60s. Elvis Is Back, Something for Everybody, and Pot Luck and some extra bonus songs that were thrown on his movie soundtracks that were non movie songs like (It’s a) Long Lonely Highway from the Kissin’ Cousins Soundtrack which was also on this movie.
It’s also worth noting that they only used these songs because the studio couldn’t afford new material which is why this movie had less cheesy songs.

there is so much going on in that song it is unbelievable, like Spector's Wall of Sound ...might have been better if Elvis had used his Hound Dog or Little Sister voice, instead of crooning it....same problem the next year with Devil in Disguise
