Elvis Costello - The Only Daddy That'll Walk The Line Lyrics
Everybody knows you been steppin' on my toes
And I'm gettin pretty tired of it
Keep steppin' outta line and messin' with my mind
If you had any sense, you'd quit
Since I was the only man in this whole world
Now you better do some thinking then you'll find
You got the only daddy that'll walk the line
I keep workin' everyday, all you wanna do is play
I'm sick of stayin' out all night
You've been coming unglued from your funny little moods
So, honey-baby, that ain't right
'Cause ever since you were just a little bitty girl
Now you better do some thinking then you'll find
You got the only daddy that'll walk the line
Everybody knows you been steppin' on my toes
And still just puttin' me on
When I start-a-walkin', don't I hear you start-a-squawkin'
Beggin' me to come back home
'Cause ever since you were just a little bitty girl
Since I was the only man in this whole world
Now you better do some thinking then you'll find
You got the only daddy that'll walk the line

Thank you Mad Men. Now I love me some Waylon Jennings.

Frank you walked the line with any pussy you could get
Kinda creepy lyrics but ok
I can still taste the Jim Beam I used to chug listening to this in those knife & gun clubs in south Texas way back when. Good times.
_"Talladega Nights"_ brought me here.

I'm there Man!....Only Daddy that'll.......
Till the day I die 🤘🏻 I introduced Waylon to the Dallas street races and now every time I pull in the parking lot it sounds like 70’s going strong in the jack in the box parking lot 😈
THAT’S RIGHT
my daddy's say,418
The best there ever was... Waylon goddamn Jennings RIP Brother 🙏 💔😢 🙏
I am proud to say that Jimmy Bryant was a very good friend of mine. Jimmy was known more for his guitar playing than writing songs.
This is the best fucking song I had heard
Wow those guitar sounds. PERFECT! I sent this song to a Vietnamese girl friend of mine, she loved it :)
Bikini girl.
Little known fact...…
That's Ray Stevens singing high harmony with Waylon.
Jay Black thank you for that lil tid bit. Awesum!
THIS is country.
AND THE MOST AMAZING AND GRATEFUL THING I CAN SAY IS THANK YOU GOD AND THE LORD JESUS CHRIST FOR LIFE BEING THE NUMBER ONE MAN I CAN ALWAYS COUNT ON AND MY BOTHERS. I HOPE THE WORLD IS READY FOR WHAT IS IN SUBTRIBICAL MOTION
Country musicians today should be asking if Waylon would do it this way
You are incredible
-Thank you.
I’ve been a huge Waylon fan since I was 16, I am 20 and I am still a huge fan of him! Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Lefty Frizzell, Hank Williams Jr., Johnny Cash, that was real country music, not this twangy pop baloney. Today’s country, a lot of it literally sounds like watered down pop music. And don’t get me started on Red Solo Cup. That’s not anywhere close to true country, it gives country music a bad name.
You almost named the Highwaymen. You left out Chris Kristofferson, who wrote much of the music. They traveled for 10 years doing "their" thing.
K Arthur Kristofferson and Highwaymen were also very amazing. You know who else was amazing too, the Traveling Wilburys.
Love Hoss.............Only Daddy that walked the fukin Line///// Awesome RIP Waylon...One of the BEST EVER
Where have I been?
Love this classic hit song: thank you
What a talent!!!
My dad let me listened to the right music when I was 4
If u didn't grow up on outlaw country we cant relate..waylon forever
Shitty country kinda crossed with hard rock. But not this. I'm puttin together a band with this overall look, like the thumbnail for this video, but instead of just one guy out there singing, we want it to be more of a "band" thing. For instance....nobody can name Waylon Jennings lead guitarist on tour. Well, that's what I wanna do. Write songs like this with that heavy bump bass, old country music with a hard rock edge.....but have everything else look, sound, and feel like a hard rock group. I'm in North Alabama, I think it'll go over pretty well. We will see;)
The Last Known Outlaw In Existence. What I Would Give To Have Him Alive Again!
Killer tune! Wowowowowow. Gotta learn this one
My favorite Waylon song. He has so many great classics but the guitar in that intro gets me every damn time!
I always remember watching "The Dukes of Hazzard", and Waylon Jennings would not only sing the theme song, he narrated the show! Those were the days--and boy, did I have a crush on John Schneider!😊💒
Dziękuje Panu Cejrowskiemu
He really didn't walk any lines but his on!
Waylon was and will be the country music icon. He sings alot of songs about my life
O some Waylon !!
This is one of the first songs I remember as a kid .
You 👎this and you are a anti American pos
The damn keyboard is horrible overproduction.
Classic.
Don Draper brought me here
Dang I miss old W!! R.i.power W.J.....
Everyone's right about that today's music it sucks none of the music makes any sense I I think they just put in words wherever if they think words need to be fit the music today does not make any sense if one of these big stars they got today was to come up and shake hands with me I wouldn't know them from Adam I don't listen to any of today's new country music new country garbage same with the rock and roll I mean look at the Beatles look at the Beach Boys look at Elton John I mean they knew what they were singing about it wasn't a bunch of words that you rhyme I guess they call that rap music I listen to it to me it doesn't make any sense I think today's music if you can picture this is have any of you ever gone to a museum and you're there looking at a piece of art the only problem is is not a piece of art basically where people threw a bunch of paint onto a canvas and they're trying to pass it off as art I went to a museum a few years ago and they had this piece of art and basically it had a bunch of red green blue white orange painted boxes and they're trying to tell everybody that it was art I was thrown out of the museum because I asked where was the art and apparently I guess you didn't like what I said because what I said was this I said this is not art this is a con man or woman trying to say that this is Art and also in the same tone trying to say that this is the best I'm going to ever be able to do so I got to take away from real artists that have real artistic talent that's what you would have to probably say if today's music it's not art it's just garbage
That's Ray Stevens harmonizing when Waylon sings the title according to Ray's book "Nashville."
I love the opening sound in this song
:) lol it crazy

Tired of staying out all night. Getting tired just a little @ 53. Remember this song on the A.M. Radio back in Okfuskee Co. with Grandpa.
Real country. The only kind. The way it was SUPPOSED to be. This Hollywood pansy country today is absolute drivel.

MY BOY WAYMORE COULD SING THE PHONE BOOK AND COME OUT GOOD,
Everybody knows you've been steppin' on my toes
And I'm gettin' pretty tired of it
You keep a steppin' out of line and messin' with my mind
If you had any sense you'd quit
'Cause ever since you were a little bitty teeny girl
You said I was the only man in this whole world
Now, you better do some thinkin', then you'll find
You got the only daddy that'll walk the line
I keep a workin' every day, all you want to do is play
I'm tired of stayin' out all night
I'm comin' unglued from your funny little moods
Now honey baby, that ain't right
'Cause ever since you were a little bitty teeny girl
You said I was the only man in this whole world
Now, you better do some thinkin', then you'll find
You got the only daddy that'll walk the line
You keep a packin' up my clothes, nearly everybody knows
That you're still just a puttin' me on
When I start a walkin', gonna hear you start a squawkin'
And beggin' me to come back home
'Cause ever since you were a little bitty teeny girl
You said I was the only man in this whole world
Now, you better do some thinkin', then you'll find
You got the only daddy that'll walk the line
You got the only daddy that'll walk the line

The best country musician ever lived!
Why is it a lot of the country music that comes from that generation almost all sounds the same? This could easily have passed for a Johnny Cash song.....
This is my dads ring tune when he calls my phone ....😍😄🤗
Gunnar' here !
I DAM SURE HAVE THE DAD EVER WALKED 4 ME !! XO
Did you know WAYLON was played on Apollo1 at the crews request!!!
Every time I hear this song I think of my dad before he passed away back when I was 17 or 18 back in the 90’s he used to play this song when I would drop him off at work he loved this song so much and he’s probably up there listening to this song million times a day
