Always a Bacharach fan, I never thought Burt would able find another writing partner to rival that of Hal David, but here, with Elvis Costello, the songwriting is just as strong! Painted from Memory is in my TOP 10 all time favorite albums list for sure. The the exceptional playing of the notes on the page, the well written and hauntingly sung lyrics, the production, all come together to make this gorgeously sad, yet beautiful and timeless music.

I agree 100% the painted from memory album was wonderful. It left me speechless yet I felt every word of each song as if I was the singing it myself. And actually if were honest with our selves we have been there. I have been in the light & the darkest of places over love yet I have been able to grow from each experience but that is not to say I suffered so. I loved deeply, sometimes I wonder if m cowardice has stopped me from feeling that good again. Sometimes we hold onto to our pain so we never suffer like that again.Hm as i talk about it, I remember that pain. I just love Elvis Costello his music is very inspirational & has helped me heal overtime.
This album "Painted From Memory" saved me during my second divorce. The lyrics are truly awe-inspiring and Mr. Bacharach's music and arrangements are, as always, just incredible. I always wondered why there was never a second album. But you cannot improve on perfection. Each song is a truly remarkable experience. Thank you Mr. Costello and Mr. Bacharach!! Indeed!
