very beautiful song, but Elvis was mixing the lyrics, interchanging with him and her, this is quite interesting to me, because Luther Vandross always did this with his songs, they sing it so deeply and personally, making you question their sexuality and subject of the passion.

This proves that some music is timeless. The writing, production and presentation are inspired.

The other versions are lovely in their way, but for me this is the only one that captures the sense of pain and despair that are in the lyric. Does he hit the notes perfectly, no, but that’s not what this is about. It’s the phrasing, the way he breathes the melody. Inspired

I sing this song with the cd, but it took a long time to get a hold of the sweeping ranges of notes at the end. It's a truly beautiful and heartbreaking piece of music. Brought me to tears the first few times I heard it and sung it!

Yes, it was approximately 17 years ago Moscow guitarist, I watched the tribute concert for Mr. Bacharach on a PBS channel around that time. It was a great concert with many great recording artists.

From "Welcome to the Working Week" to the Juliet Letters, and then onward, he grew as a musician and a singer. It's amazing that I got to see Elvis Costello in my lifetime. I owe him a great debt.

Amen to that.  All those albums and this one (Painted From Memory) was a real treat.  So many great songs and performances......
