I adore Elle Varner but the original concept of this album would have been highly different from most of the stuff being produced in R&B today. I feel like every R&B artist today has their own signature sound that compliments them and sound nothing like the person next to them in the same genre. Frank Ocean and The Weeknd are prime examples of different elements but strong leanings in R&B. Elle had this classy hipster/ alternative vibe to her sound. I hope it stays the same.
