I see that many say that this is an underrated song and so on. Well, I do not understand that, in my youth we loved all ELO-songs. So what songs are underrated? It is a matter of beeing born at the right time in history. If you were born in the 6os you love ELO, and do not talk about underration. I was born right after or before Winston died and that was just the right time. Hail to Jeff!!!!!!!!

I'm wishing I was back in an era when music meant something ,, like Elo songs..there's meaning in them,, ..longing...unfulfillable longing....sweet.

It's interesting that in a recent interview, electronic music genius jean michel jarre said that he thought ELO'S Discovery album was one of the great records and that it was a huge inspiration for him. He was also convinced that Jeff Lynne was the "fifth Beatle"

As Paul McCartney once said "ELO picked off where we The Beetles left at I am the Walrus".
Albums such as A new world Record, Out of the Blue and Discovery really prove this statement. That's why, ELO, The Beetles and Queen are my three favorite bands.

Manx Marvel I love these 3 bands as well! And I would also throw In the Moody Blues and Pink Floyd.

I have not heard this song in like how many decades yet can sing it just like in Mummy's basement, no hesitation. Boom, there's the whole song replete with original intonations and vocal flourishes. Every lyric, every last note played and sang inexorably etched in the deep-seated recesses of superdooper long-term memory and goddamn if it's not a tad too uncanny.

Discovery was an beautíful albun, I brought it as a brand new. No matter it had noambition to make experimential music No sense to critisize. Discivery sounds good, that´s it !

ELO at it's very best. My favourite band for 31 years and i am a long-time fan of the instrumental band. 1986 was such a delightful year. Shame about two members that have passed away. Electric Light Orchestra will remain in my heart forever.

It didn't fit in the confines of the venue. There are only so many songs you can play live.

Hardly what you'd call under rated. He's shared a stage with the biggest names in music over the years lol. Maybe less active until recently but try getting a ticket for any of his shows and you'll get an idea how under rated he is.

I think I made an accurate assessment saying he's underrated, because he is. in other words he doesn't get the recognition deserved. so many get blinded by loyalty to a band or ball club, because they are fanboy followers and will not tolerate any negative remarks, even if well meant.

It always puzzles me that critics always have such a low opinion of this album. It's underrated. But it was still a number one record for nearly two months!

Most of the hate was due to people who did not like their favorite band to make music that was "different" to their previous works. Combine that with the "Disco-hate" that was rampant across rock-fans at the time and you get bad reviews. Still totally undeserved tho. Discovery is outstanding.

One of the most underrated songs in the Discovery album This was the first time ELO recorded without a backing orchestra because it just got too expensive. So they programmed their moog synthesisers with samples and played them that way and that is why they paired down to only 4 people Jeff Lynne Richard Tandy Bev Bevan and Nick Kyminskie. All of the other members went their own way and then got back together as ELO2.
