Electric Light Orchestra - Shangri-La Lyrics
Sitting here, waiting for,
Someone calling at my door,
Too bad,
I'm getting out of love.
Wonder what tomorrow brings,
Who knows,
I'm getting out of love.
[CHORUS]
My Shangri-la has gone away,
Faded like the Beatles on Hey Jude
She seemed to drift out on the rain
That came in somewhere softly from the blue
Raindrops fall on everyone,
So sad,
I'm getting out of love.
[CHORUS -- repeat]

Electric Light Orchestra Shangri-La Comments
Why does it have to end?
The end of the song can be used in the teaser of a movie...
yes indeed, the ending is amazing!
Good music from such a long time ago
When comes ELO to Holland?🙄😏.
Hooo, hoooouuu!!!,waaauwww!
Its make me , happy in my haed, sorry🙄😏
Iconic song thisss!!!,just the last pice🤗
I used to roll my eyes at this band having to listen to baby boomer 70s songs but a very interesting band and born just for the time period. Birmingham, England is a rough place but it sparked some mega talent.
Bloody marvellous!
Stunning production.
So many elements and layers that make it really interesting
Great percussion which really drives the song along
I love the deep swelling bass notes in parts
I also love the guitar work, the strings, and the keyboards with all those interesting little flourishes
And the vocals with all their different layers are enchanting.
It’s a simple, yet complicated work of beauty. Such a simple basic tune worked on and enhanced and built upon to create this wonderful collective sound.
This is Jeff Lynne showing his wonderful production and arrangement talents to splendid effect.
I don’t just love it, I admire it immensely.
I WILL RETURN TO SHANGRI-LA
Love the outro. Always gives me goosebumps
Faded like the Beatles on Hey Jude!!! Great songs never fade.. They reside in your brain, always lurking, lifting your spirit when u hear them again... Love this till I take my last breath
So much beauty contained in one offering...outro to die for, no to. Wow.
"faded like the Beatles on Hey Jude"
I see what you did there Mr Lynne.
Almost brings you to tears......
Faded like the Beatles on hey Jude....RIP. JOHN, GEORGE,...😎😎😎 FROM AUSTRALIA...
Now this, this is what would be perfect for the Stone Ocean ending.
This melancholy tone of an amazing group of singers belongs in the ending where
*spoilers*
Everyone's gone and it's just Emporio left.
Jeff Lynne, the chordmeister..the harmonies on the chorus are genius ..Jeff, please consider performing this track on your current tour
Shangri-la uff volumen y cerrar los ojos, saludos de chile con rock
I play the outro every time I'm leaving Walmart.
03:45 forward is where this songs true magnificence shines.
went to see them at bingly hall in 1977, what an experience, one of the first bands to use lasers at their concerts , mindblowing at the time, i was 14 :) im 56 now and still love them, what a genius jeff is
I beat you I'm 79years YOUNG will be listening till the day I LOL FROM AUSTRALIA 😎😎😎
Holy shit that ending tho

La belleza echa canción Elo te amo

.......faded like the BEATLES on HEY JUDE ........Paul McCartney once said if the BEATLES had stayed together they would have become ELO.😎😎😎LOL FROM AUSTRALIA.
jhon lenon was...
Aiden I miss you
Like this listen to falling by Daryl Hall and John Oates
Epic greatness pure genius beauty
Brings back memories of 1976-77 as a 12 year old. One of my top 5 ELO songs. Thanks for posting :) Top albums were Eldorado, Face the Music, New World Record and Out of the Blue
That ending feels like someone free falling in the air in slow motion trying to reach out heaven with his hands, he can see its bright light but he's slowly dying in the process believing he will get there to no avail. He's trying to pull up while everything is pulling him down in an ethereal void.
It would sound nice in a PTA film
2019.....ELO.....AMAZING....SONGS , GREAT
Конгениально. Нет слов.
At 3:47, Jeff Lynne and his buddies were Mozart inspired.
Perfect guitar solo 1:37.
Wtf? It sounds a lot of Freddie Mercury at the beginning. Amazing!
I'll be at the Golden 1 Center June 22nd!
love the opera singer! She's amazing and Jeff Lynne is a musical genius.
The opera singer was a bloke and part of the band . Have a listen to the start of Rockaria.
ending is easily the best of any song!
Where is my shangri La?
Judy baby!
That came in softly from the blue...what a line!
38 dislikes????
Such an underrated classic! Hauntingly beautiful! Tied for #1 with about 20 other ELO songs!
So true lol
20 others and counting 😊👍
My god, that first verse could be Freddie Mercury!
So f*cking beautiful
the best outro in history, despite ending with a fade
so good
the only way i can satisfy myself is now putting the outro of this song over some epic moment in a film.
Always loved Bev Bevan's use of 'the fat end' of the sticks on this.
Richard Jones Bev Beavens is a awesome Drummer! He has done amazing work with ELO!
Il mio gruppo preferito di sempre, vi amo, grazie!
The first part is my favorite I listened to it like 35 times
The Electric Light Orchestra's bona fide tearjerker; I cry for the most part with THAT tune!!
Takes me back to being 18yrs again. Killer break up song.😥
ABSOLUTE FANTASTIC!
Wow. This is a masterpiece.
ELO everyday, any-day.
What a vocal...
A New World Record.. wow .. I think his best work. The guy can write and compose.,. jeez sooo good! thank you god for Jeffrey Lynn
I've always hated when bands fade out the last tracks of albums because they always feel unfinished in the end. Almost as if I'm waiting for the next track. But then there comes some albums that do it SPECTACULARLY. The way this album does it almost feels like your on your death bed and you're slowly being lifted up. I thought that A New World Record was okay at first but after a few listens, it easily rivals Out of the Blue.
Outro starts at 3:47, thank me later.
29 people don't here this song like the 1k+ of us that do
Capolavoro dei capolavori! Grazie Jeff.
This album is the pinnacle of intros and outros in my opinion.
(I'm getting out)
(I'm getting out)
Sitting here, waiting for
Someone calling at my door
Too bad
I'm getting out of love
What's the use of changing things?
Wonder what tomorrow brings
Who knows?
I'm getting out of love
My Shangri-La has gone away
Fading like The Beatles on "Hey Jude"
She seemed to drift out on the rain
That came in somewhere softly from the blue
(I'm getting out)
(I'm getting out)
Clouds roll by and hide the sun
Raindrops falling on everyone
So sad
I'm getting out of love
My Shangri-La has gone away
Fading like The Beatles on "Hey Jude"
She seemed to drift out on the rain
That came in somewhere softly from the blue
My Shangri-La has gone away
Fading like The Beatles on "Hey Jude" (Do me, baby!)
She seemed to drift out on the rain
That came in somewhere softly from the blue
I'm getting out of love
Where is my Shangri-La?
Where is my Shangri-La?
I'm getting out of love
I will return
(I will return)
I will return to Shangri-La
(I will return)
I will return to Shangri-La
(I will return)
I will return to Shangri-La
Makes you want to just find the highest point look out and feel leef
That outro gives me chills everytime! That part alone is one of my favourite pieces of music.
Maybe someday, if Jeff Lynne is recruited to score a major motion picture, he could re-record this composition and the end portion would finally be included as a score cue.
Anyone else hear “Sleepwalk” in this song?
The guitar solo from 1:39 to 1:58 is SO GEORGE HARRISON (and so beautiful too).
Sounds like Something's solo
both songs are amazing.
They never performed this live :/
There's a lot of great one's they never did live sadly
The note he hits around 2:00 just gives me chills, I'm 18 I wish I was born during this era
I've been a fan since the mid 70s. You are enlightened my friend 👍😊
Just when you think you're done loving a Jeff Lynne song, the outro kicks in and so does your AWE!
ELO in my home...FOREVER!
God how i miss her!! She is the most beautiful daughter ,my oldest!! She left us Dec23 17 and i can't seem to move through sometimes!! Please, forgive me. This is my music However, i took her with me all of mine and her life to my concerts
Amazing song and an amazing band. Never heard of elo until I met my husband. Saw Jeff in concert last year. Seeing him again in October. Can't wait
Just saw them in Philly last weekend, they were amazing!
Jeff Lynne and ELO have given us so much brilliant music. Thank you!
i can hear freddy mercury when i hear this.
I keep telling you folks ELO is the most underrated group in musical history listen to me people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From another old guy..... yes lol
He was just 29 years old when he created this masterpiece!
Absolute legend
Jeff Lynne!! Beautiful!! Shangrila is a heaven!! Googlei it!!
i can hear Sleepwalk as the intro... nice touch...
The ptich of the song changes like 38 or so seconds in, I swear... goes lsightly flat.
One BA-NANA One BA-NANA
This song is excellent. You know what other song is excellent, yet underrated? Eldorado. They have very similar themes, wanting to go back to a world of paradise, a dream, no? Coincidence?
Steven Nesfeder k
