Jeff Lynne did what Paul McCartney and George couldn't figure out. How to put an orchestra together for a pop show. Paul found out later when it was too late for the Beatles. A real shame.

I saw ELO in Las Vegas right after this album was released. I was in front of Kelly Groucutt and he seemed real tall and his vocals were perfect. I will never forget that show. I was with my best friend Phil who is now gone. RIP.

I think ELO took a bit of a hit when they participated in the creation of the Xanadu soundtrack. The film has a cult following now but its initial impression was negative.

I just LOVE how this particular rock band played bowed instruments! This was clearly an experimental move, but it was a VERY GOOD move!

@Kenny Murphy I'm well aware of the original line up and also the History of the group. Mr Roy Wood after the Move formed with Bev Bevan initiated the seeds of the new group Carl Wayne had already left the Move,.Jeff Lynne was in another group the Velvet Underground,I think,he was approached by Roy. And the ELO was gradually being formed. There was no fallout between Roy and Jeff that was just for the media etc. As Roy then went on to form the group Wizzard. But the 70s line up of ELO brilliant Richard Tandy left and then came back. Nice to know another fan. Cheers Kenny.
