Edwin Starr - Oh How Happy Lyrics

Oh, how happy
You have made me
Oh, how happy
You have made me

I have kissed your lips a thousand times
And more times than I can count I have called you mine
You have stood by me in my darkest hour, and

Oh, how happy
You have made me
Oh, how happy
You have made me

Oh, how happy
You have made me
Oh, how happy
You have made me

Now through our years together
We have had stormy weather
But our love has been so strong
That somehow we've carried on

And oh, how happy
(You have made me)
Oh, how happy
You have made me

Listen, you brought joy to my delight
And all that was wrong, you have made it right
And I love you, I love, I love, love

Oh, how happy
You have made me
(Oh yeah)
Oh, how happy
(Yes, you did, yeah, alright)
You have made me

Oh, how happy
(You have made me)
Oh, how happy
(You have made me)

Oh, how happy
You have made me
(You have made me)
You have made me
(You have made me)

You have made me
(You made me happy)
You have made me
(Yes, you did)

You have made me
(Oh, so happy, babe)
You have made me
(Yes, you did)
You have made me

Written by the very man himself. ... Don't think a lot of people realise that 'Edwin' penned many songs himself.

Rates up there with "25 Miles". No wonder Art Garfunkel re-did this gem. Amen, makdizzle783!

shades of blue did good job but the tune had so much soul a brother had to have wrote it

+gary schultz Believe it or not, Edwin Starr was a US soldier in Germany where he heard the German National Anthem, and that's the source of the tune. Blew my mind when I found that out.

This man could sing the nutritional facts on a cereal box and it would be awesome.

This is fabulous -- thank you for posting it! Always loved the Shades of Blue version, never heard this before, never even knew that Edwin Starr wrote this until 5 minutes ago when I was brought here on a link from the S of B song. The best thing about THIS recording is that he enunciates all the words clearly & I finally get all of them.  :-)

I just learned that Edwin Starr wrote this song.  I love Edwin Starr but never heard him do this.  Only the Shades of Blue version which I always loved.  (and just now, I heard the version the Skyliners did in 1977).
Anyhow, thank you so much for uploading this song.  I really enjoyed Edwin's version too.

Annettesmusic The Jackson 5 also did a version of this song on their "Third Album" (1970). It has the same tempo as the Shades of Blue version. Jermaine is on lead, and Michael can be heard in the background. Great rendition. You'll love it!

Always preferred HIS version to "Shades of Blue." He did write it, after all!
