Dusty Springfield - This Girl's In Love With You Lyrics

You see this girl
This girl's in love with you
Yes I'm in love
Who looks at you the way I do?
When you smile I can tell
We know each other very well
How can I show you
I'm glad I got to know you?

Yes, I've heard it said
They say you think I'm fine
Yes I'm in love
And what I'd do to make you mine
Tell me now
Is it so?
Don't let me be the last to know
My hands are shaking
Don't let my heart keep breaking

'Cause I need your love
Oh, yes I do
(I want your love)
Baby I need it
(Say you're in love)
In love with this girl
If not, I'll just die

Ah, tell me now
Is it so?
Don't let me be the last to know
My hands are shaking
Don't let my heart keep breaking

I need your love
Oh, yes I do
(I want your love)
Some of your loving
(Say you're in love)
In love with this girl
If not, I'll just die

  2. T.... K....

It’s hard to believe that she was so hard on herself and didn’t believe she was a good singer!

  3. N.... S....

That hair makes her a foot taller, just like my hat.

  4. N.... R....

Everytime wife got angry for my stupid thing, I played this, she'll calm straightly.

Dusty hits all of Bacharach's nuance perfectly. Artistically, she was one of a kind. She got his vibe.

Thanks Darren. Love this fitting tribute. Dusty is the BEST!!!

I love Dusty's voice and the way she sings and the music is beautiful. HOWEVER, Dionne and Aretha do much better versions of this song. I think her voice and production are better than on this track. But of course I still love it, just think Aretha and Dionne did better versions.

If you feel like checking out a cover of this! :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_-YlsKULx8

Burt Bacharach. The voice of the '60s, who sang through so many great artists. (Beatles? Child's play.)

  14. J.... M....

What a voice°! A girl who sang to us like that would be very difficult indeed to resist. She sang like and Angel and the song is very well composed and performed in this feminine version.

I hate to compare artist and this is no disrespect to Dusty Springfield. However, Dionne Warwick’s original interpretation of this song can only be slightly touched by Aretha Franklin’s soulful version and Ella Fitzgerald’s jazzy version. In my opinion, no other singer (thus far) can touch “This Girls In Love”.

    B.... C....

Agreed! This sounds great, but Dionne...💜🎵

    thank you for the upload.

Perfect cover when you want to hear your favorite music but you are tired or getting ready for sleep

  18. 1.... ....

The clanging piano is a little intrusive, but Dusty's breathy, vulnerable delivery suits this song perfectly.

  19. G.... O....

We miss Dusty so much that we named one of our mares after her.
    /geo ex machina

This song sounds beautiful in Dusty's outstanding and very feminine voice. Very good to hear.

    Another Dusty Gem.  Mesmerizing vocal.

    My favourite song.

    My favourite singer 😊

And thank you Hal David, too.

  24. D.... ....

Tch...this song is such a masterful, heart-filled love song that all versions are well done (well, not sure if I like Davis's)!
    THANK YOU BACHARACH

I love it.  the piano texture is bold, almost overbearing but against the rerverb tone and those transient woodwind and guitar notes... It just come up magic.  This whole album side is pure delight.  One of the finest "romantic" album sides ever done.

    t.... n....

Thanks for cluing me in.  I've got to get the album.  What's the name of the album it's on?

    t.... n....

    Dusty.... Defnitely !

Thanks. I got the LP. You are right, one side is sort of rock/pop gold of the day (Piece of My Heart, Ain't No Sun, Love Power) and the other side is terrific romantic ballads and standards. I think this was the period when they were thinking about trying to turn Dusty into a Lounge Singer. But luckily, she did "Dusty In Memphis" instead after this LP. Dusty sang it all terrifically. But it was important to her to stay current and in the charts at all times throughout her career. So glad she did the Romantic Standards as well.

If you read the liner notes, Dusty states she chose the songs simply because she loves them. I don't find them loungy at all. In fact i find the entire suite formed by side B to musical and exquisite.

  26. t.... ....

Thank you melancholyrose99 for easily the best rendition (imho) of this Bacharach classic.

  27. n.... m....

I`m a first timer for Dusty.Love her voice, her style, but as a know nothing guy,I felt that this arrangement sounded as if her voice was being over taken by the sounds of the orquesta ., wanted to hear more sharpness, Love her anyways.

    n.... m....

That is exactly what Dusty wanted: she was one 'instrument' in the orchestra

  28. b.... ....

my favourite song, sorry I missed you Dusty

    b.... ....

Ahhh, but alas, you really didn't. Thanks to her recordings and You Tube, you get to hear her and see her.
She's gone and yet she still lives.

  29. j.... ....

I think this is a case of beauty is in the ear of the beholder . I don't know if it was about this particular song but I do recall reading that Dusty wanted to sound like part of the Orchestra. I think it might have been partly intentional -how she interpreted the song . I love her high almost breaking vocals on this one

  30. O.... ....

Please don't hate me Dusty lovers, cause I'm one too!! But this arrangement stinks...and the vocal is so drowned out...did she produce this one?
