Drive-By Truckers - Easy On Yourself Lyrics

I can't blame you but it's a shame
you can't cover your ass sometimes.
It's that kind of town and you're so far down you can't get up.
I can't tell you what to sell and how to tow the line
and when to just give up.

Calling out to everyone who tried to run. You tried to run.

Don't be so easy on yourself
'cause this one might be all that you have left.
Rearrange the voices in your head and remember what they said.
Don't be so easy on yourself.

You got it down, you been around
and you won't change your life
for redneck cops and traffic stops and residue
but I can't tell you all the hell they'll put you through inside
and what they'll do to you.

Ten years down the road you'll find you're left behind. You're left behind.

Don't be so easy on yourself
'cause this one might be all that you have left.
Rearrange the voices in your head and remember what they said.
Don't be so easy on yourself.

Calling out to everyone who tried to run. You tried to run.

Don't be so easy on yourself
'cause this one might be all that you have left.
Rearrange the voices in your head and remember what they said.
Don't be so easy on yourself.

Aaron Davis yes we live in shame and regret. Lose our passion get washed up sometimes chewed up and spit out and still in the fight . We got to keep growing mentally physically and spiritually we can’t just go to work and become slaves to the 9-to-5 or whatever hours becoming robots ,sheep’s and most of all burn out. Hopefully not becoming cooked to a crunch with a crackly crisp

There with you in the fight though so don’t feel alone

I discovered these guys in an old school 'kinda' way. Aberdeen city Scotland in the early 00's HMV store kiosk with digital duke box touch screen and head phones with the words "discoverer new music" in lights above it. I went through some songs and came across DBT and fell in love with the cover art of the album *Southern Rock Opera. Two days later I couldnt get 'Guitar man upstairs out of my head' and 'The three great Alabama Icons.' Hell the whole album is great. bought it 2 days later.
