Dream Academy, The - It'll Never Happen Again Lyrics
I remember
Our first affair
All the pain
Always rain
Around my eyes
It'll never happen again
Every time
I leave you alone
I remember times
I couldn't come home
It'll never happen again
It'll never happen again
Why can't you be
I want you to be
Why can't you see
You've got to change
And love me
I remember
Our first affair
All the pain
Always rain
Around my eyes
It'll never happen again
It'll never happen again

Dream Academy, The It'll Never Happen Again Comments
Remember i bought this LP in the early nineties...Nick Laird Clowes, Kate St. John were really nice musicians but i didn't heard about them since.
a lot of drama...
Gorgeous rendition --------------Tim Hardin would have smiled, & I know, Johnny Rivers does, every time he hears this.-----------------------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
This version is gorgeous-----------even better than Johnny Rivers. --------------Heartbreaking & so, so true. ---------------------------------WolfSky9, 72 y/o
Tim Hardin is the genius behind this master piece
I've listened to this at least 50 times, now; it is just hauntingly gorgeous. -------------WolfSky9
Listening in 2018. Where the heck did they all go??
Tami ! ---------------WolfSky9, 72 y/o
This is absolutely gorgeous. ---------------WolfSky9, 72 y/o today
Great, great version! Johnny Rivers is still # 1 , but this is wonderful. Such a Heart breaker! Tim Hardin could only have written this from real life. --------------WolfSky9
Yes, Johnny Rivers Version from his Rewind Album is a Little Better.
Crazy how this band sang of political issues that are now so deeply ingrained in our current society, when back in the 80's, the were just an utter annoyance. Lucy September is about the Opioid epidemic and abuse and death. A Forest Fire is all about the stripping and burning off of the Amazon Rain Forest which was a problem then.. but now? The world is quickly using up it's natural resources and once the fresh water is gone.. so are we.. But, there is good news.. the Earth will only be inhabitable for Humans for .00000001% of its lifetime, previously too cold, then not occupied, and soon it will be too hot and the oceans will evaporate and all intellectual life will cease to exist, and finally the Earth will get sucked into the sun when it grows so large, then into a white dwarf and the gravitational mass will suck the earth into a fiery ballistic missile to hell... so live it up people, you won the lotto... you are here for the fraction of time that you can be..
Beautiful vocals Kate! And Nick your voice is the best!!!
Great band. Great music. Love it. 😍
TDA have a new (2014) greatest hits cd, with a new song on it, I believe it's a double cd.
The sound of this track is very Prefab Sprout at "Jordan The Come Back" era. It's very beautifull. The musical atmospheres that Paddy Mc Aloom joys to build.
Listen to this entire album in the dark on a really good stereo sound system or great headphones, and you will not be disappointed, i guarantee it! "A Different Kind of Weather"!
In front of a fireplace with a glass of wine... Beautiful!
I've just ordered the CD. Going to play it LOUD on my car audio - 4500 watts, high-end Alpine/Hertz system! The CD should be here in a few days. I like to drive out to a quiet remote car park in the woods or somewhere away from built-up places (here in England-Land!) at night in perfect silence, open the doors and crank the power right up until it is like a mountain-range of sound. But I am a bit strange I suppose!
I'm dang near 50yrs old...this is right up there with doris day...'secret love. these songs are beautiful because heartfelt emotions pours out.
I miss the magic of the 80's so much.Song's like this can take you there
for a moment. =)
TDA brings out emotions I thought were long gone. Reminds me of the innocent 80's and the youth that us TDA fans had back then. Wish they'd reunite. Maybe it'll never happen again, but we can always dream.
@rsbarrett4991 You are correct, sir: David Gilmour not only co produced the album, he also played fretless bass, guitar and did those sweet "pah-pah-pah" 60's style backing vocals on this track.
He also produced their first album if I recall correctly.
One of the most brilliant bands from the 80's! Wonderfull song written by Tin Hardin!!!
sounds like Tim Hardins old song-?? is it??
Harry Watnik yes it is.
A very reflective song.
@waveroot Peter Buck played on the LP too.
that guitar sounds like... David Gilmour
He produced and played on it.
Tim would approve.

Tim Hardin's beautiful song as performed by the Dream Academy
So sad.....so right for now in my life........my miserable life
To ; " Lucky Ducky" ---------well, it's 9 years later---------& I hope life is better for you now. --------------------------WolfSky9
Tim Hardin's beautiful song as sung by the Dream Academy
So sad.....so right for now in my life........my miserable life
To Lucky Ducky------------May I ask ---why is your life miserable ?? ------------I truly hope it gets better. ----------------For me, '68, & Johnny's albums " Rewind " & " Realization" were THE music of my life, following a sad-----heatrbreaking end of the 1st real love of my life. This song, when I'd listen -------would always bring me to tears. But as time moved on------one day at a time------it got better. --------By the late summer of '70, I was ready for the 2nd love of my life to enter & break my heart much harder. It was a betrayal by my best friend & her-----yes, THAT kind of heartbreak. --------But somehow, by moving away, & starting my life again here in LA, iT ALL WORKED OUT, & WENT ON. ----------I only tell you this, because if your life is miserable because of a lost love-------just know, it can get better--------really------------it's not easy, but it can be done. I iwish you all the very best. -------------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
Cover art is reminiscent of Pink Floyd's More lp....
