I was walking in the streets enjoying this song. Suddenly coming near to a church I listened to some bells that I didn‘t recognize as part of the song. It was amazing and haunting how the bells of the church with the bells of this song were synchronized!! No chance to record that short moment!

Ive never heard a more emotion invoking song in my life. Unknown soldier didn't want to be in that war from the beginning. During his grim thoughts of the bleak and pointless nuances of life, a bullet strikes his head. His fellow soldiers see him and numbly make a grave for him. As he's laying there dying in contrast to their monotony, a sudden surge of excitement and relief! He doesn't have to fight anymore. War is over! Everything is over! A wild scream and cackle. He feels more free and alive laying there dying than he ever was in a pointless war. Brilliant.

Is it necessarily about a literal soldier though? Dont we all go through battles every day that no one will ever know about? Jim was into double meaning so yes it's about Veitnam buuuut there's another meaning if Morrison wrote it

From them, I developed my distinctive philosophical and intellectual taste for the extremes of physics, and moderation in the musical. Many of the Doors' songs were kind of mini-dramas with a message. I admit I didn't always understand their messages, but this one I got loud and clear, since I was opposed to the war in Vietnam.

I was living in Port Cheater N.Y. a 411 Westcheste . The Doors were supposed to do a concert      the Imperial Theatre. We were in our apt. living in a condo. Jim was being interviewed, in our house, by Sullivan, (Ed), when the question was asked, How do you come up with these lyrics ??? The answer was completed by Big Willie, who stated that it's not only the lyrics, but the auther behind the lyric. Jim didn't want to conduct the interview for some odd reason, when Big Willie stated that it's worth more  lyrically, if the person was well known, so Big Willie freestyled this song, while my brother and I were eating breakfast,

This song was done because Frank Mathews, was busted for the  Feds, and the dealer in France snitched, because Big Willie and somebody named Andy Warhol,  accidently on purpose permanently nwashed up the dealers son

Big Willie died  IN A BRINKS ROBBERY AT THE NANUET MALL IN 1981, 6 cops were shot 2 mortally, and the robbers needed an underpass to get away, at the Pallusades pkway to get rid of the onsuing helicopter, Big Willie drove the brinks truck pass the road block, by crossing over to the other side of the hi-way and against traffic, then back to the original side of the hi-way, they stole 1.5 Million, the two cops were buried at the St. Anthony's cementaryand Big Willie went back to the truck he was left there by the robbers, he wanted to die young.....
