Doors, The - Someday Soon Lyrics
Someday soon, someday soon
Familiar freaks will fill your living room
Rugs lash out their lizard tongues
You're not getting young, you're not getting young
And you're going to be needing all of your eyes
You'll be all alone
When the animals cry
All by yourself
In some infancy's lie
Someday soon, someday soon
Television bleeding like a harvest moon
Flush the scissors down the hole
And I hate to remind you but you're going to die
And you're going to be needing all of your lies
You'll be all alone
When the animals cry
All by yourself
In some infancy's lie
Someday soon
Someday soon
Someday soon
Someday soon

The sad reality of death is gonna get all over.
Our lives.....
Love is the awnser.
Life is a very shortly journey
On this 🌎.....
Death is just the very beginning.
Of the unknown.
Freedom is just a noose away.
we're all going to die and it will be like we never existed. and yet we all act like we have shit to do
This is one of my all time favourite songs. Period.
Despite the quality of the recording and looseness of the performance, despite no official studio recording, despite there being only 2 known live versions. Despite all that, this is still one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I’ve ever heard.
The melody is solemn yet catchy. The lyrics are deep and prophetic and just like Jim, still a little playful. The outro is so bold and proud. The song has pain and perhaps a little venom even, yet somehow it’s still so wise and hopeful.
If I had a time machine I would do everything and anything I could to get these 4 guys into a studio to record this song properly.
Having said that, part of the haunting charm of this song is that this is all there is and that’s part of why I love it so much. Just goes to show a great song is a great song even if it only exists as a rendition like this.
I don’t want to say there’s no good music any more cause there is plenty, but says a lot when a half baked live version of a song from 50 years ago is still on another level all together than most of the well produced songs I might hear today..
Yeaaah.
I wish i got to go to at least one of their concerts. Out of every band ive come across this is the only band that i can say i like multiple albums of
every once in a while, one should be reminded of this by Jim
Been Door´s fan forever......firts time I hear this song.....Love it.
ready to die like Jim fuck this plastic world full of liars
Greatest American rock band ever IMO.
Truly and uniquely American. RIP Jim & Ray
I was fortunate to be able to see the Doors in Dallas Texas in 1970
Steve Hammel My hometown... Their second to last concert ever. I was born too late hahaha
Not to sound rude my freind...but you are one lucky bastered.
I’m jealous. The only doors I see is in my home.
What was it like to hear Palace in the Canyon live?
This extended version is quite rare. It truly does not get good until the last 2 1/2 minutes or so. Changes the entire mood.
everything is eventual, universe a cycle, and though we're together, we can never truly know each other. and that's the only dividing line between the shades of our eyes, the quick surprise that lurks just behind you in the darkness.
check out a band called pioneer salesmen
But you’re going to die,and you’re going to be needing all your lies!!! Miss you Jim
SOMEDAY SOON MAYBE!!!!
Jim I miss you too
Someday soon live Pittsburgh
HMmmm Everything has a place and time within the existence that all call eternity reality is a byproduct and also creation of ones entity amid a chaos in a cosmic void floating in effervescent thoughts from all of histories time as humanity,we are like clouds that exchange lightening bolts.
Jim harnessed the reality he had and rode it like a serpent into the next with shamanic precision riding the serpent between all planes, aim your arrows at the sun.
Respectfully and humbly follow ones path with heart,
learn to experience,
experience to learn.
In the end there is nothing but light.
Well said, & i'll add, nobody, not the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zep etc. lyricized on the level of the Shaman & the Doors.
You'll be all alone/When the animals cry/All by yourself/In some infancy's lie
Just as grand in death as in life
Where have all the flowers gone? Got to wade through the manure, I guess.
The Doors's live are so authentic, i always feel like my room is field with ghosts
O Humma filled*
And who knows, maybe it is
you're getting old ............ and i hate to remind you ........ but you're going to die 🎵
Hermosa obra musical, sublime, singular...sin precedente alguno. Poesía surrealista del genio y gran maestro James Douglas Morrison. Sumamente melancólica y de una belleza pura. The doors hasta la eternidad!
Catolina A.g. yup
Catolina A.g. profético.... al igual que Nietzsche , una obra para generaciones posteriores a su tiempo....
What isles must have been, washed in faded black and white. Among possible gray moments. Wondering where dreams were taking those waiting patiently for change.
Nice...
the doors the best
Helmut Pompl q
This is a pretty tedious and turgid song... and I'm a Doors fan. A bit shit.
Uh oh time to initiate chemical abuse deterrent phase one

do you think this song sounds a little lie ,,Beatles. song "while my guitar gently weeps??"
Jay Richard or the song by the small faces?
Lindy Primo
It's on the White Album.
No it's on the rubbersoul album..its only love.
Did someone do some bad overdubbing over this bootleg... A lot of bad notes. There's a bass guitar on this LOL
The Doors always recorded with a Bass player. Lonnie Mack, Jerry Scheff and others.
wrong kid
Nope, he's not wrong. You can actually hear the bass guitar on the studio albums.
The Doors were unusual among rock groups because they did not use a bass guitar when playing live. Ray Manzarek played the bass lines with his left hand on the newly invented Fender Rhodes bass keyboard, an offshoot of the Fender Rhodes electric piano, playing other keyboards with his right hand. On their studio albums (with the notable exception of their eponymous first record), The Doors did, however, use bass players, such as Jerry Scheff, Doug Lubahn (who also played with Clear Light), Harvey Brooks, Kerry Magness, Lonnie Mack, Larry Knechtel, Leroy Vinnegar, and Ray Neapolitan. source : wikipedia

This is on there essential lost songs. It came out like 90sometging. Good song. If you put all there lost songs together you have a good lil ep.
Mi canciòn favorita, me encanta su poesìa tan surrealista y misteriosa. Su voz suena muy melancòlica.
The one good thing to come out of this concert, from all accounts.
de lo mejor de the doors q se a escuchado....gracias.
This becomes even more heavy when you picture someone you know who applies to these lyrics
you're not getting young, but you're going to die
Or yourself?
How the fuck have I never heard this before????
yeah its a dark 1
As a self-proclaimed Doors authority, I'm thoroughly embarrassed to say that this is the first time I've heard this song
Jason Sobolewski Brother would you please give me a link for that, sounds awesome 1<3

quarter_moon and_a_guitar I can't believe you pointed that out 2 years ago & people are still giving you shit about being an authority when you'd posted the 'means irony' bit to clarify what you weren't saying what ur still being attacked for saying! OMG people just think what they want to be true & are blind to any alternative!

one of my favorite doors songs...the lyrics are just perfect.
This song...is just
The reality of what is coming to this 🌎.
'Rugs lash out their lizard tongues '
I always thought he said "run, slash out their lizard tongues"
@SlimCballin Close. I remember in Rays book him mentioning it was an old acid line.
What is an old acid line?
A line that was written on acid .

When I was 17 I wanted to be like Jim, the poetry passion rebelliousness love, I figured I'd probably die young like him too. Living now I've learned I didn't know half as much as I thought I did lol. He lived the soul in the music and felt pain that was in the lyrics and shared it with the world. The American Poet.
I had the bead necklace too. Was all about some Jim. Went away from him for a while and will never have the feeling about him that I did back then (I'm almost 40 now), but still appreciate the music. As someone who made it through their 20s and is now sober from alcohol, I can see through the myth of Jim and realize he was basically a kid (young man) with a severe alcohol problem. It's crazy to hear some of the music and know that he's in his early-mid 20s. When I was 14, he was a grown man being awesome, but now I think about dying at 27 and it seems like life had barely begun by then. I still appreciate the voice, the songs, the risks he took to push the boundaries...but I also feel a lot of sympathy for him.
I thought he was the king of cool, but at the same time, I realized I would not want to be like him (except for SOME of his freeness of spirit.), or even hang out with him. I felt he was best admired from a distance.
Freedom is just a noose away.
So we'll said! Yes, he was so young, and just starting out in life really, but at the same time it's as though he'd lived a lifetime and was singing out his memoirs in his music, ya know!? He seemed so sad, and the booze being a further depressant added to his dark moods. I wish he cld've gotten help and then loved a sober, healthy life!
Very true! He was self destructive for sure, but he was carefree and a free spirit too, I'd have liked to know him without the booze though!
Heroin dayz. I totally forgot about this
Beautiful. The Doors are the greatest.
Thx for this upload.. ,0)
Someday soon
Society and people feel the need to define people as bad, good, rebel, smart, dumb. Jim was a full human being who wanted to be intelligent but also a badass but thoughtful and compassionate but rebellious but it does eat at you eventually make you depressed that people don't understand you and need to define you trust me
I trust you.
"Whoever fights with monsters should see to it that he does not become a monster in the process. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you.
he was searching for something he couldn't find, what he was searching for was God and the love of Christ
