Doobie Brothers, The - Without You Lyrics

I get a feelin', lost without you baby
Livin' alone is drivin' me crazy
Don't you know
I got nowhere to go
You should be the one that's hurtin'
You got everything you need
Back in the days when love was so easy
I was fancy free and laughin' with no reason
Things have changed
Your touch has grown strange
I can't help myself
I know that you have left me dyin' here

Baby, baby
I can't live without you
Baby, baby
I can't live without you no more
Baby, baby
I can't live without you
I feel you know it, huh

Oh, baby, now I'm lost without my baby
Oh, baby, baby, babe, don't you hear right now

Doobie Brothers, The Without You Comments

I was three years old when the best of the doobies came out. Though I love all the songs on the album this and China Grove were my favorite songs off the album. Funny thoughI have not heard this one on the radio before and I am 46 years old and this album came out in 1976 when I was 3 years old and my parents had the record and in 1993 I bought it on CD. I was disappointed that their double album The very Best of The Doobie had all the other ones off of this album but not this song. That was a disappointment to me that the very best of two-disc collection did not have this song on there. What a shame. Still my favorite song besides China Grove. Thanks for posting it.

    This song has it ALL

The Doobies were my favorite group in the mid-70s (pre-Michael McDonald). I was fortunate enough to see them at the Assembly Hall at the University of Illinois in December1973. I think they did an extended version of Without You near the end, may have been the last song before the encore (which was (I think) China Grove). Amazing that WY was the flip side of Long Train Runnin', else I would have never known about it, as I wasn't buying albums back then (I do have the Best of the Doobies album as pictured in the video).

So this song is Metal! I assumed it was when I first heard it as a 5th grader in 1990. My dad introduced me to Metal.

  5. v.... d....

    Magnifico!

  6. R.... D....

Best dual drummer track ever. Awesome band.

  7. J.... C....

I used to be this compilation on cassette. This song ended up being my favorite. thanks for posting

  8. D.... C....

One of their best that didn’t get a lot of air play. They still bring it live today. Can’t wait for the show in Nashville in November.

  9. B.... B....

This is the only acid rock song they wrote. Love it!

  10. B.... E....

One of my very favorite Doobs tunes, just good old hard rockin.

  11. E.... B....

One of those songs you just can't seem to play loud enough, one of my favorites from the Doobies. My neighbors love me for it! I always play the good stuff. Thanks for posting.

  12. J.... F....

Love the Doobies and this is probably my favorite track from them. Road Angle is another good one. When you compare these tracks to say Black Water, it's hard to believe it's the same group. Here's another hard to believe comparison, listen to the most popular REO Speedwagon song you know, (you know what one) THEN listen to the song "Back on the road again" from REO's Nine Lives album, it will blow your mind! You'll say, is that REO? Damn!

  13. K.... S....

These guys here are at their very best!

  14. F.... ....

  18. S.... L....

And regardless of what the "music industry" thinks of the Doobie Brothers, these guys are in MY rock and roll "hall of fame"!

  19. S.... L....

For all the great stuff about this song, like a lot of the Doobies songs, Tiran Porter had some of the greatest bass lines . . . really gave their music a real edge and moving "bottom".

  20. P.... T....

Agreed GuitarVamp; Do we wish they made music now-a-days?

  21. K.... S....

They are at their best here!!!

  22. R.... K....

    Now THAT’S Rock n Roll!

    R.... K....

    Ya baby!!

  23. T.... K....

    K.... T....

    Good music knows no boundaries!

    K.... T....

    Tiran Porter was black too!

  31. a.... ....

Back in '73 this song was my kind of "Heavy Metal."

    a.... ....

that's because it sorta was kinda sorta...

    a.... ....

Yup . . . this was one of the "heaviest metal" songs the Doobies ever did!

  32. G.... ....

Whoever disliked this has no taste in good music.

    G.... ....

    GuitarVampire93 I agree. Great rocker

    G.... ....

One of the Greatest Rock n Roll Bands of all TIME!

    G.... ....

you know a freakin PUNKASS disliked it.

  33. R.... F....

Dallas backwards is salad... if you drop one of the L's.

    R.... F....

Russell backwards is loser...if you drop one of the L's and S's, and change the vowels from an E and a U to an O and an E.

    R.... F....

An anagram of "Dallas" is "All sad", which makes sense if you remember 11/22/1963
