Donald Lawrence - Lord I Try Lyrics
Lord I try
To do my best
But the road seems so hard
To climb
But I don't succeed
Blood, sweat, and tears
And fears
Is there any way
I can make it by myself
I've searched and found,
No one else
I need your help
For I know, that help is mine
If I want it
And my help lies in God
And my help lies in God
And my help lies in
God

Donald Lawrence Lord I Try Comments
Walter truly loved his wife Tramaine, and this song proves it.
OMG I love this song! You got to be good to sing a Tramaine Hawkins song and this lady did justice!!! I wore this CD out back in the day! Everytime I played tears always come even when I try to hold them in!
I LOVE THIS SONG!!!! Makes me wanna cry and fall out on the floor #worship
I have followed ms. erica from He has done great things to when the saints. She has always sang the song my heart wanted to sing. I was so broken when I found out she passed shortly after this recording. Its not a matter of comparison it is a matter of testimony. She sung her prayer and it ministered to me. I miss her voice and sincere heart of worship. This song has blessed me in so many ways. And I praise God that she is with Him. Thank you Erica for leading me into His presence even when I was a young boy. Your legacy will live on! I never met you but you imparted so much into me.
Amazingly beautiful.
Fantastic voice! Excellent rendition. Rest in Peace Ms. Erica.
johnftenaglia I had no idea she passed on. 😳🙏🏾❤️
Definitely no Tramaine. Sorry!
And knowing Erica, she was not trying to be her, nor attempted to sound like her! She was very comfortable in her own anointing!!!! Just an anointed artist paying tribute to a Gospel Queen that paved the way for her and many to follow!!!! To your journey!
Better actually... Sorry lol
RIP Erica
My Cousin Erica is singing this song , greatly and so awesome
I didnt realize until today this young lady passed away............I'm sitting here in tears because I absolutely love this song and use to play it all the time and tonight I needed.............thank God for Erica's anointed voice...........may she rest in eternal peace in heaven.
Beautiful!!!!
resonates in your soul
This soloist was so incredible. I cried when I heard this.
I love this song! What a blessing! I loved that the lead singer on this didn't try to modernize it by riffing all over the song like the singer who did "Holy One' over. None of Tramaine's ballad style songs call for that style of singing really. Walter knew how to write for her. One person Tramaine listened to was Barbra Streisand, which gives you a glimpse in how she approached this song. Erica kept with that tradition and did a wonderful job on this remake. Love it as much as the original!
One of my all time favorites...Mr. Lawrence and the Tri-City Singers do a spectacular job...but Ms. Hawkins' version the greatest. Kudos to Mr. Lawrence for "pulling" this grand song out of the mothballs.
And the same with getting Blanche to do I've Got Something. I mean he just always chooses the right vocalists for the right songs.
Erica is such a humble vocalist... with such a HUGE voice. She is just amazing.
And props to the original, Lady Tramaine. I love her version as well. They both are perfect for this song. That reminds me of something. Donald is so skilled at choosing the right people to lead songs. I didn't think he could do any better than Karen, Kim and Kelly on God's Favor. And what did he do? Get LeJeune, Blanche and Sherri to do it. I mean DANG!!! Same with LaShun doing And Yet I'm Still Saved. DL rocks!
I agree; I wonder how many people even know that it's a (remake) of a Walter Hawkins classic that he wrote for Tramaine!
She's great, but growing up on Tramaine I tend to prefer the original.
this song was sung from the heart Erica has a very pretty voice and may the lord keep her and Bless us to hear more from this anointed skillfull singer in the lord
Not a lot of people are aware of this song but it is one of my favorites by Donald. Erica is such a skilled singer! Listen to her tone and quality..the way that she sustains her notes...my my my...she needs more recognition in my opinion
but God sees and hears her. JUST WONDERFUL!!!!!!!
Go Get Your Life Back
She sings this song! I've listened to it 10 times or more today!
Hayley D. Reed REAL singing Haylie. :). ~Royce
