Dollanganger, Nicole - Swan Lyrics

The swan sang with a broken neck
Out by the pool, behind the fence
You can't forgive me when
You know if I had the gun I'd
Choose to shoot again

He raised my hands in the backyard
He taught me to be a good shot
You love the sound of sorry
Even when you know I'm not

In the holy land of broken homes
You still pretend you don't know
That I took it out back and I
Snapped its neck just like
A wishbone and let it die

He raised my hands in the backyard
He taught me to be a good shot
You love the sound of sorry
Even when you know I'm not

I’m so sure about what this song is meant to be about , but I see it as a song about abuse between someone forcing a partner to do stuff , and how it feels like to be the partner . I could go into more detail but idk

When I hear this I think of my ex friend who dated my ex boyfriend. We also went to the same school so I had to see it in every class, and he kind of outlasted me from my friends. He dumped her for someone else, just as I had predicted, and she wanted to come back in my life, but I know she’s not really sorry. Great song. Captures it perfectly.

I think this song is about the argument of killing things out of sympathy for their pain. They're going to die no matter what- but should they suffer slowly beforehand? Interesting moral question.

    "Cisne."

the swan sang with a broken neck
out by the pool, behind the fence
    you can’t forgive me when
you know if i had the gun i’d
    choose to shoot again
_El cisne cantó con un cuello roto_
_Fuera y junto al estanque, detrás del cercado_
    _No puedes perdonarme cuando_
_Sabes que si tuviera el arma, yo_
    _Elegiría disparar de nuevo_

he raised my hands in the backyard
he taught me to be a good shot
you love the sound of sorry
even when you know i’m not
_Él me hizo admitir la culpa en el patio trasero_
_Él me enseñó a ser un buen tirador_
_Tú amas el sonido del 'lo siento'_
_Aún cuando sabes que yo no siento el perdón_

in the holy land of broken homes
you still pretend you don’t know
that i took it out back and i
    snapped its neck just like
a wishbone and let it die
_En la tierra santa de hogares rotos_
    _Aún pretendes no saberlo_
_El hecho de que la saqué de nuevo, y yo_
_Le quebré el cuello justo como_
_Una clavícula de deseos, y lo dejé ahí hasta que quedó muerto_

he raised my hands in the backyard
he taught me to be a good shot
you love the sound of sorry
even when you know i’m not
_Él me hizo admitir la culpa en el patio trasero_
_Él me enseñó a ser un buen tirador_
_Tú amas el sonido del 'lo siento'_
_Aún cuando sabes que yo no siento el perdón._
