Guitar playing reminds me of Schenker. Great record.

That's John Norum, and Schenker is one of his influences. You can also hear some Gary Moore in his lead guitar.

@Dark expat That is incorrect. Norum actually played _at least_ half of the solos on the Up from the Ashes album. And if you watch the live concerts, like for example the one in Osaka Japan, can see them trading solos.

And in the other songs you can _clearly_ hear when Norum is playing lead. The song "Forever", for example, even includes that well-known "Final Countdown" lick, and the Gary Moore style ending with the harmonics that he has played on songs on the Final Countdown album. And the outtro solo is also played by him. It has that Schenker style arpeggiated lick that he's played before. He plays it on the Total Control album, among others.

Outstanding track. For those interested this features Mikkey Dee on drums (King Diamond, Scorpions, Mötorhead) Ken Mary (formerly of Alice Cooper) drums a couple of tracks also, Billy White and John Norum on guitars (Accept/Watchtower, Europe) and Peter Baltes (Accept) on bass here. Also, Kelly Hanson (nowadays of Foreigner, formerly Hurricane) features throughout. A Supergroup defined!

Billy white is very, very, very good. Imo he is better than john norum

John Norum for me. However, hard to split.

Murf Kuhls I am a huge dokken fan,,,but his voice is shot,,,and i saw him in a club around 2008..dont expect to hear his flawless melodic amazing voice..

I too am a huge Dokken fan, but the last time I saw them, my son and I left early. His voice is shot and he comes across like a real douche on stage. Don is a legend in his own mind. If George was the guitarist I would have stayed.

mjs805 yeah,,,same experience I had when I saw them,,,voice is beyond shot,,,I'll never forget how terrible kiss of death sounded with don trying to scream,,,,and he was a real douche to his bandmates in stage,,,I dont like that...my brother and I were soooooo excited on the way there,,,then we looked at each other from the first song,,like what's up,,his voice is beyond shot...damn, his voice was amazing in his day..

this is solo album of Don Dokken, it's not the Dokken band.

Dokken to me is a band that defines an era. I was introduced to them in the eighties and still am a big fan. When Don Dokken came out with this album I loved it. It's one of those albums that every song is awesome. It lifts me up every time I listen to it. My life has been like a movie and this album was the soundtrack.
