Today I can't even pick a favorite. I was there in the 70's when radio was in it's golden age. Country from that time had to compete with an unfathomable amount of great music pouring out from all genres at the same time. Lot's of outstanding acts got lost in it. Garth broke through in the 80's and helped the masses see how great Country is. What did it for me (not Garth) was I love great songwriting, great musicianship, and finally the most important, I love harmony. The Chicks deliver on all those and don't just deliver, knock it out of the park. This act is an American treasure. That BS was the ugliest display of hypocrisy and sexism and mob rule I have ever witnessed from America in my entire life. If a guy had said that stuff, they would have been celebrated. Well, I guess this song just shows how people can get knocked down and come back stronger. Bravo. But the lyrics make me sad. I hope you girls can find it in your hearts to forgive - for your own sake and, as an example for all. Peace comes with forgiveness. It's clear you were not at peace when you wrote this. This song has so much of the way I feel about my life right now. I am a strong survivor dealing with PTSD because of a narcissist who tried to kill me two years ago. I get so upset when people say I need to forgive to heal for myself. As of right I can't forgive nor do I see me doing so in the future. I don't understand how forgiving him will set me free. I'm still so angry that some one who said he loved me would be able to do the evil things that he did to me. I love this song and yes, I'm not ready to make nice and maybe I never will.
