Dispatch - Year Of The Woman Lyrics

We late
We late now
We late now
The moon, she on the rise
Each day
Each day now
Each day now
The more he got to hide

But he says he prays
Like a good God-fearing white man
He can't recall his trespasses
You know he doing the best he can

But it's the year of, the year of the woman
It's about time for the world to see
Men have been pushing their ivy oppression
Hiding away on their tree-lined street
Stay on fire, on fire, now, lady
Those are the powers that used to be
'Cause there's a sea change coming
Like a high court summon
From sea to mother shining sea

We late
We late now
We late now
The moon, she on the rise
And each day
Each day now
Each day now
The more he got to hide

But he says he prays
Like a good God-fearing white man
He can't recall his trespasses
You know he doing the best he can

But it's the year of, the year of the woman
It's about time for the world to see
Men have been pushing their ivy oppression
Hiding away on their tree-lined street
Stay on fire, on fire, now, lady
Those are the powers that used to be
'Cause there's a sea change coming
Like a high court summon
From sea to mother shining sea

When the kingdom come
The king get dumb
And when the king, he come
The king get dumb
He can't remember all the things he done
And we all saying now
This is insane, man
So raise a glass last to the rigged up game, man

'Cause it's the year of, the year of the woman
It's about time for the world to see
Men have been pushing their ivy oppression
Hiding away on their tree-lined street
Stay on fire, on fire, now, lady
Those are the powers that used to be
'Cause there's a sea change coming
Like a high court summon
From sea to mother shining sea

Yeah, it's the year of, the year of the woman
It's about time for the world to see
Men have been pushing their ivy oppression
Hiding away on their tree-lined street
Stay on fire, on fire, now, lady
Those are the powers that used to be
'Cause there's a sea change coming
Like a high court summon
From sea to fucking shining sea

this is just stupid... there was no evidence against Brett Kavanaugh. It had nothing to do with the fact that it was a woman speaking against him.... the fact is she had no case. either she's a complete fool or a liar. this is complete sexism on your part because the fact that she is a woman is more important to you than truth and facts.

    J.... W....

Joshua Wax off. You seem a little sexist yourself, you use Brett Kavanaugh’s name, though refer to Christine Blasey Ford as “she” multiple times. Then there is the rest of the song and the video which you just dismiss. Truth and facts have been dismantled by men like you. I do appreciate your comment cause it sparks conversation but men like you are the problem, not a solution to the future of this world.

As a woman and a fan of Dispatch for 15+ years, I agree with Ford having no case, and things not adding up. I'm actually incredibly disappointed what was supposed to be a fan-packed video only included one video from a fan, and that Dispatch chose to take such a politically-biased slant in a song celebrating women. There are plenty of women in the world doing amazing things and it doesn't have to involve politics or rallies. That said, there are women on BOTH sides of the political spectrum, which Dispatch could have represented, and yes, we are educated. I have two separate degrees in science and engineering, and enough credits for a masters in engineering (I left the program to take care of my sick father). I volunteer in engineering programs in my spare time to help children develop an interest in STEM fields. I lend a hand on chronic illness forums and run a Twitter account to raise awareness for a chronic illness. And I know men who have been victimized by women who lied--to the point where it almost ruined their lives (it happened to a friend in college and yes, I was actually present so the story wasn't hearsay). Unfortunately, this can happen, and it goes both ways. It's not sexist to question a story told by a woman if things don't add up and witnesses and facts can't corroborate it and frankly, it goes against basic logic my training as a scientist to unquestionably accept any story people tell me. Facts matter.

@Trevor O’Keefe you saying i'm the problem doesn't make me the problem. if there's any falsity/lies in their stance, all it does is diminish any truth to it. and i say "she' because i couldn't remember her name. Sorry, but his name is more prominent. It was all targeted at him and he's a supreme court judge... so yeah... his name is more easily remembered. Also, as i stated, her case had no grounds, so she's a fool or a liar. I don't care enough to go research her name and it has nothing to do with gender. you made that about gender... not me. so step down off your high horse. But as i said, by including her, all they are doing is making a mockery out of any true victims everywhere

Also, the description states this comes after the hearing. They elevated that part of the video. Maybe pay attention before you speak

    J.... W....

@Trevor O’Keefe side note... if it comes out that Kavanaugh really was guilty, I would have zero problem eating my words about Ford... because truth is what matters to me, and as SaltTequilaLime pointed out, she had no case and nothing was adding up. nothing pointed towards guilt on his part

This song came out of the Brett Kavanaugh hearings... we were shocked and upset to see the polarization around a woman brave enough to share her story of sexual abuse and that her abuser was ultimately named Supreme Court Justice.

Brett Kavanaugh is just one of many men whose stories of abusing their power and women have come to light recently…

We’re two white men who are in proximity to the problem, and we want to use our platform, as Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley says, to raise the people closest to the pain to power. In our evolution, we’ve been lucky to learn from the amazing women in our lives and in the public sphere. We’re just now grasping how different their reality is.

Our society needs less ego and more of a nurturing spirit - we need more women in positions of power. The time for gender equity is far overdue.

With that in mind, we want to learn more from badass women and girls leading change in their communities. We hope to bring you, our fans, on this journey with us and get your help. We'll be doing interviews every other month in 2020 with Calling All Crows to highlight women and girls leading in their fields.

We hope you enjoy this song and video that share some of what we learned from the powerful women speaking up about rampant abuse. We tried to convey the impact watching this unfold from the sidelines has had on us. We owe a debt to these women who put their own safety and comfort at risk to try and make a better, violence-free world for us all, and we’re excited to follow their lead and contribute to the movement.
