Dionne Warwick - Don't Say I Didn't Tell You So Lyrics

Don’t ever say I didn’t tell you so,
I did, you know, someday you’ll wish you were back with me
Don’t think Mr. Heartbreak passed you by
Someday you’ll cry, you’ll meet your match, wait and see

[Chorus:]
And she will do to you everything you did to me
And she will cheat and tell you lies that you’ll believe
While she’s laughing up her sleeve
As you gave you’ll receive

Someday you’ll wish you were back with me
You’ll meet your match, wait and see

[Chorus]

Don’t ever say I didn’t tell you so,
I did, you know, you’re gonna cry and wish you were back with me
Wish that you were back, wish that you were back with me...

Wonderful song, I've been playing it on repeat!

What a song. Such a unique lyric and vocalist. All the Geniuses of Burt Bacharach, how David & Beyond work

  8. F.... C....

    love this

Found this record by accident 58th & State. Flip side of something more popular at the time.

  10. J.... C....

    masterful

  11. D.... B....

To me Dionne Warwick is the best performer in showbuisness

Those quirky melodies -- only Burt had the genius to make them work. Bacharach spoke about how long it took him to get beyond the approval of his record company producers. Once he realized that it was he who had the musical brilliance he could make the music that brought the world to his doorstep.

Petula Clark does a great version of this song, produced by Arif Mardin, using many of the same musicians as the Bee Gees.

A beautiful song that reflected a time that Cha Cha was the dance of preference. Smooth composition.

It sure is smooth, but it deviates from cha cha quite a bit. Much of it isn't even in 4/4! (I love cha cha / mambo, and love it even more when musicians get tricky with it).

  15. R.... R....

    my favorite song

Check out Swing Out Sister's take on this...it's called "Certain Shades of Limelight"

I just did. Thanks for the tip. It's a very nice piece of 90s lounge, but doesn't have any of the tricky rhythm stuff going on that makes this song so outstanding

  17. B.... ....

    Classic Dionne.

Possibly my all-time favorite song, and I've been listening since 1955. Certainly one of Burt's best. And he stands at the head of the composing/directing class of song stylists. Tender, haunting and soulful. Love the ladies backing sound to add even more depth.Dionne being the perfect female voice to convey the emotion. Simple but magnificent arragement and orchestration. Classic Bacharach. Superb.
