Diana Ross - Forever Came Today Lyrics

Suddenly, my world stood still.
My life was then fulfilled
As you gently touched my hand
I knew that we had layed a plan
For everlasting love
That I've been forever dreaming of

Darling
Ooh, my darling
Make me yours
Let your kiss touch my face
And tell me love has led me
Into this place, to your warm embrace
And our happiness

Thanks to you, my search has ended
And I want the world to se
How gently love has shined on me
With everlasting love
That I've been forever dreaming of

Diana Ross Forever Came Today Comments
  1. D.... ....

Mary Wilson is so gorgeous here it's ridiculous!

  2. K.... M....

Actually, never paid much attention to it before, but Mary Wilson is far prettier than Diana Ross. Sexier, too.

  3. G.... S....

Just love diana Ross and the supremes, love all Motown music great days

  4. R.... W....

How great was this, truly mesmerising, what talent in performance and song writing and production all coming together to make perfection

  5. P.... L....

She may not be the most revered Supreme but the lady CAN sing... Diana was as articulate as one could have been and captivated you in her performance!!!

  6. R.... R....

THEY LOOK BEAUTIFUL, AND SOUND BEAUTIFUL, THERE'S NOTHING LIKEDARK BROWN AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN BLACK BEAUTY!!!THEY WERE AND ARE SPECIAL!! MUST TAKE THEIR MUSIC BACK!!! 2019!!!

  7. R.... W....

They were all so thin, 5 pounds soaking wet lol, love them

  8. E.... R....

    Now those are some wigs!

  9. h.... g....

They were the best! Period! The Diana Ross led Supremes. Listen to the album , Cream of the Crop. Unbelievable.

  10. N.... F....

Were there ever any interviews with Diana or Mary about Flo? I don’t remember the full story or if I’m right here, but wasn’t Flo Replaced by another “Supreme” before she died? Because that girl in the Background is not our Florence that’s for sure.

  11. 8.... ....

Mary wrong for looking that good in that dress!

  12. T.... i....

She’s singing live are they even singing? Such bullshit

  13. D.... R....

    Love those dresses!

  14. g.... ....

Diana in a class by herself. There had to be a movie project out there somewhere for her to win an Academy Award. Mahogany was a beautiful and worthwhile film, not complaining.

  15. C.... M....

    Oh, ROSS!

  16. J.... P....

When & why did it change from the supremes to DR and the supremes?

    J.... P....

Berry Gordy was preparing Diana to go solo since 1966. He changed the name so everyone could see her more in the spotlight, and be more interested in Diana as a solo artist, even before her solo career.

The name was changed in July 1967. The day after Florence was fired

    J.... P....

@The Supremes Archive Thanks for that.

    J.... P....

Just did some more reading, very sad how things turned out for Florence Ballard.

    J.... P....

The first record with the group name changed to Diana Ross & the Supremes was "Reflections" in the summer of 1967.

  17. D.... ....

Wow those gowns! They certainly had a presence! I wonder what their costume overhead was! Cuz those gowns look like they were a grand a piece even back then! Lol

  18. s.... s....

Diana is the epitome of class, grace and elegance. The world,s greatest female group.!!!🌍🌹⛅🍹🎷🎺🎧🎹🎼🎤🎵📀📻📷💵👑👒

  19. G.... P....

I love this song. Still playing in 2019

  20. J.... M....

This was one of their best songs. I wonder why it wasnt a big hit? I think their first flop

  21. S.... ....

    Her voice!!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️

  22. W.... P....

That annoying clapping nearly ruiined an almost perfect video! Thank goodness the lead singer persevered through to the rescue.

  23. H.... H....

There was something so predatory about Diana Ross' stage presence, and it wasn't mere seduction. It was blatantly aggressive, as if she defied the audience to dare not look at her., and I haven't been able to for over 50 years.

  24. A.... I....

They are the top tier from which all other girl groups worked hard at attaining status. I consider myself so blessed to have an older sister and aunts who were Motown fans. I got an early education on The Sound of Young America. Now, every nephew and niece of mine knows what Detroit stands for...and it isn’t the auto.

  25. k.... ....

Should have been a number 1 hit but it was released at a bad time. There was no love or hope in the Spring of 68'. Was there and it was the first and only time I saw my mother cry (R.F.K. assination).

  26. M.... G....

I wish women performers dressed like this today. One reason to love the Supremes even More. Pure class. RIP Flo ❤

  27. L.... P....

    Beauties

  28. D.... ....

Forever came today … that voice, ooooh, that voice.

  29. N.... N....

    Only Diana has a microphone???

    N.... N....

Yes. Mary and Cindy with pre-recorded background vocals

  30. M.... ....

    Wonderful.

  31. J.... J....

That bitch diva walk always gets me.see graceful elegant amazing magnificent traumatic Mary was given face Indi was given face Diana was giving face just amazing I love walk so unbothered so carefree so we're here yes Supremes yes yes yes

  32. K.... M....

Mary and Cindy , loved them

  33. C.... ....

0:10 what show business is all about. Love Cindy and Mary's stance and the way Diana raises the microphone and extends her arm to start singing is legendary.

  34. A.... D....

Wow! True beauty, true stunners, real class. Too bad women in general no longer dress like this!!

  35. S.... C....

    Legends

  36. r.... ....

Beautiful dresses-- but this song is not good-- first time hearing this-- cause I do not remember it???? I hear why I chose to forget it>>>> sorry -- but do not like.. but the dresses are fabulous!!! Lost is the great magic of the original Supreme s .. the background is awful-- sound wise...

  37. j.... B....

What a Prolific Song written and Produced by HDH.. the World's Greatest Writer / Producers.
    .

  38. j.... B....

    Love this Song!!!

  39. R.... H....

I have seen Diana perform many times but this is the first time I have seen her perform with the Supremes. I always wondered why Berry selected her to be the front women and now I see why. I never thought she was that strong vocally. She is very alluring and mesmerizing. She knows how to capture an audience and have all eyes on her. That’s what you call star power. The “it” factor.

  40. X.... W....

    There you were
    Standing there
As your eyes reached out to me
    Something warm in your eyes
Touched my heart right then and there
All the love I never knew
    I found in you
    Suddenly
    My world stood still
    My life was then fulfilled
As you gently touched my hand
I knew that we had laying a plan
    For everlasting love
That I been forever dreaming of
    At last
    At last
My forever came today (my forever came today)
When you walked into my life (when you walked into my life)
    And made my lonely life
    A paradise (a paradise)
    It came today
    Forever came today
    As we were standing there
You didn't speak a single word
    But your eyes
Your eyes said you wanted me
Your touch said you needed me
    And my heart said tenderly
    Darling
    My darling
    Make me yours
Let your kiss touch my face
And tell me love has led me
To this place to your warm embrace
    And our happiness
Thanks to you my search has ended
And I want the world to see
How gently love has shined on me
    With everlasting love
That I been forever dreaming of
    At last
    At last
My forever came today (my forever came today)
When you walked into my life

  41. C.... R....

Mary is radiant so Supreme, love her

  42. K.... A....

Diana was just the cat's meow. She had that It.

  43. L.... n....

sorry I love my husband's version.

  44. D.... D....

Wow!! The Black Sequins!! The Supremes. Beautiful Girl Group.

  45. k.... ....

You know, the release of this single coincided with the assination of MLK & RFK. That was about the time my older brother and I became responsible for our care as well as our younger brother. The events of the time (Vietnam, civil rights, riots, & assinations) were just too much. I list my parents in the fog that was 1968.

  46. k.... ....

Remember it from my very young youth. On of my favorites and should have charted higher. Needs to be covered by one of today's "artists".

  47. M.... ....

OMG I always thought this was an original Jackson's song!!! Its one of my absolute faves. Im sooooo freakin shocked to learn its a re-make.

  48. S.... ....

The Diana Ross here in this clip looks not like the same person in this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOGdhMf2hK8&t=135s You wouldn't even know it was the same person . Eerie.

  49. K.... A....

Whoa - Diana totally jumped the gun going into that second verse. Oh the joy of live performance. She totally screwed up lol. After the first chorus Diana is supposed to wait 4 beats while the girls sing Oh-oh-oh-oh and THEN start the second verse. You can see when she realizes it and stops right in the middle of the sentence and all you hear is instrumental and handclaps.

  50. J.... R....

Wow it’s like they are at today’s Ocars 🏆, they look like a billion dollars,👸queens off that decade

  51. V.... K....

Tatooed skanks of the 21st century should take note what real feminine sexiness looks like!

  52. G.... S....

Can't take my eyes off miss ross

  53. S.... C....

They had that “something extra” that certain performers possess to command the stage. They had the greatest wardrobes and choreography and always presented themselves as ladies of class and poise. Back in the beginning of Motown they had the Artist Development department and their singers were taught how to stand, pose and speak to exude class. They were taught these social graces so that not only would they present themselves to their fans but they would be able to be able to be presented to Kings and Queens.. The woman behind this was on a talk show with Mary Wilson and she was very classy and interesting herself. Too bad that in today’s world, people don’t care about how they look or present themselves. You look at these great old clips and how everyone dressed and acted and compare it with today’s “talent” and you will shake your head. 🙄

  54. t.... u....

"Diana and the girls" (Wendy Williams)... 1:17 ups Diana!

  55. R.... C....

The Supremes had good material and variation of themes in their music.

  56. Q.... T....

    Black beauties 💖💓😍😍😘👑

  57. h.... w....

I heard the jackson 5 version before the original. I love both. This one....better,lol.

  58. h.... w....

    Man,those gowns.

  59. T.... ....

Everything about Mary in this performance screamed bad bitch, from that stance on 0:15 to the little strut at 0:45

  60. d.... ....

    Drama!!! Diana work.

  61. h.... ....

One of my favorite of the Supremes leader hits. They looked stunning.

  62. i.... ....

Mary and Cindy are singing live here and not lip-synching to the song’s backing vocals from the album cut which were and sounded different, including because the vocals on the recorded version and the recording itself were arranged differently and at a different tempo—plus being non-Supremes backing vocals on the vinyl version that differ from the sound of Mary and Cindy’s live own voices in this live appearance—they were mic’d overhead in their spot on the stage.

    i.... ....

    This is a pre-recorded track

  63. S.... 4....

I just smile when I see this...so much grace, class, and cool!

  64. g.... ....

Mary wilson looks like kelly rowland. Vice versa

  65. B.... ....

When you hear how great Birdsong and Wilson sound on these "oohs" sound - and the harmony on "at last," you can tell there was n o need to put Andantes on these records. And they poured the girls into these gowns!

    B.... ....

The Andantes would have looked ridiculous in those gowns.

    B.... ....

@JACK ANTHONY True, but their voices are on their records after Flo was gone.

  66. A.... C....

    3 lovely ladies.

  67. J.... A....

Flo should have been in this song. Her voice was sorely needed for this song.

  68. J.... ....

I like the outfits they wore here. ✨🖤

  69. C.... ....

    Mary....is exquisite in this !!!!

  70. M.... P....

"Diane" is the only one here with a microphone, and that is because Cindy & Mary are not singing live. Yes, it was their voices, but they was piped into the show in the background from The Reflections LP. You hear them clap, but that is because Diane's mic is picking it up. And, she did a nice job with this song too, but the Jacksons did a killer dance remake of it later on from their LP-"Moving Violation."

  71. B.... A....

1968... Such an awful year in American history. Glad to see such a good moment like this performance in a year filled with so much tragedy, confusion and division.

  72. L.... H....

The Supremes are the baddest & hottest girl group hands down!!!

  73. E.... R....

Love the Supremes, but the J5 version is a thousand times better.

  74. E.... ....

That hair! Just... that hair! I have to travel back in time...

  75. C.... H....

I like The J5 version better

  76. K.... 7....

    them iconic eyes! Yes Diana

  77. d.... ....

Back in the day...these acts were so polished and perfected.. right down to every note, gesture and smile. Thanks Motown for putting Blacks Performers on the map in show business unlike any other music label to date. The Supremes would become Motown crowned Jewels and performances like this proved that Black women could be just as elegant, regal and beautiful as other women.

    d.... ....

It was their 2nd Crown jewel, 3rd was the temptations then the 4 tops, The top at number one Was Michael Jackson and the jackson 5

    d.... ....

I'm sorry I've been Mistaken, I don't wanna forget about the miracles, Stevie Wonder and extreme powerhouse, Marvin Gaye

  78. V.... V....

Out of curiosity, is this live singing or lip synching? I'm only asking because it sounds so similar to the single release, which had the Andantes on it, and I want to know if that's really Mary and Cindy singing.

    V.... V....

Diana is singing live while Mary and Cindy are lip-syncing to their pre-recorded vocals

    V.... V....

That's disappointing but thank you! There isn't even much backup vocals on this song, couldn't they have let Cindy and Mary sing live? Or did they sing the vocals they are lip synching to, and not one supplied by the Andantes?

I guess I feel bummed out that Mary and Cindy are on like, absolutely none of my favourite songs from the DRATS era including this one. Felt like when they kicked out Flo, we didn't just lose one Supreme, but three and we didn't get back two of them until Diana went solo.

At least they got to clap and look breathtaking in those gorgeous gowns.... so dazzly.

    V.... V....

The Supremes Archive I believe they’re not lip-syncing here but, actually, overhead mic’d.

    V.... V....

There are large pictures of this performance, and in none of them a overhead mic appears

    V.... V....

Are you kidding?  Mary and Cindy sound so much better and sophisticated than those awful sounding Andantes.

  79. C.... 9....

Why most popular singers today don't have class like that? Keep your damn clothes on...

  80. M.... G....

I like the Jacksons one better it’s more groovy and dancible

  81. s.... ....

As much as I love The Supremes, this was not them at their best. In fact, I have never even heard this song until today. It's not horrible, but I can see why it wasn't a top 10 hit.

  82. s.... ....

Gotta love the Supreme Strut at 0:46

  83. T.... E....

I saw them live when they were the "No Hit" Supremes....and I loved them as much then as when they had a whole stack of #1 hits. The Supremes had some magic to go along with their talent. It's sad when some people play one against the other....I loved them all....Diana, Mary, Flo and Cindy! Thanks for the memories!

  84. V.... V....

Dunno where to look here. You got Cindy looking immaculate and adorable, Mary looking at her most stunning, and Diana belting it out looking like Eartha Kitt's baby sister. Mercy! Only thing it's missing is Miss Florence

    V.... V....

According to what I read, Florence was watching this show on TV with Tony Turner.  According to Tony, Florence was yelling at the TV while the performance was going on.  Tony then stated that Florence insisted that sang on this record as she promptly started singing to the song.

  85. S.... ....

Greatest black female singers of all time.

  86. V.... V....

Supremes make sequins look more expensive then diamonds

  87. U.... P....

diana is sooo pretty here!! 😍😍😍❤❤❤

  88. e.... r....

How can they sing without mic

    e.... r....

    Overhead mic or Pre-Recorded tracks

  89. H.... K....

I never noticed before but many of the videos of the supremes why is Diana Ross the only one with a microphone? They were all lip sincing even back then!

  90. V.... V....

Damn Diana looks like she could be Eartha Kitt's baby sister here!

  91. m.... T....

Mary's guiding Cindy thru the choreography if you notice!

  92. t.... i....

Wow the backup singers are beautiful..the lady on the left is quite attractive..

  93. S.... R....

The Sd Sullivan Show must have been amazing.

    S.... R....

It was indeed for those of use living way back then. It was not just the Supremes, but also viewing a variety of other acts and genres of music and entertainment that we would not have seen elsewhere.

  94. k.... ....

Yep, Ed knew what was up and could see past the BS. If it had not been for him letting the, as he called them, "The Girls" in our living rooms every week Motown would have not had the success that it did. Each of the "girls" deserved to be named by name.

  95. m.... T....

Mary is wearing the ring that everyone at Motown was making a big deal over( $20,000) dollars a large amount in those says

  96. T.... P....

THE JACKSONS VERSION OF THIS SONG IS HOT FUNKY....THE SUPREMES IS VERY MELLOW..

    T.... P....

Love J5's version! "Moving Violation" album :)

  97. S.... R....

    Is this version faster?

    S.... R....

    Yes, it is

  98. m.... l....

    So so so beautiful. Everything.

  99. S.... ....

I listen to this song a lot. It's probably one of their least known songs, but one of my favorite singles.

    S.... ....

Yes! It was a very underrated/minimally played recording. but I think it was one of their best songs in later years!
