Dexys Midnight Runners - The Waltz Lyrics

Don't stand me down, or around,
for I'll never stop saying your name

I was the one who came rushing to see you believed in your strategy
Followed your course
Around this time, yes, I came near to remorse,
I never quite did, of course
But then, things were no worse

And you were the one I was waiting to see, believed implicitly
But I never took tea
I was always in doubt
about working it out,
hence my reasons to shout

were in permanent doubt

It's all changed now

Now, though it seems I am losing,
it's not true.
And though it seems there's confusion,
it's also not true

As if I could not see
believed implicitly
in the tales of the British democracy
How I swooned to the stories of Royal victories
But the books of history were fairy tale stories
But, never one to doubt
and not first think about,
I restrained all my doubt,
now I'm working it out.
Your good sister, it seems,
is nowhere to be seen,
they don't talk of Kathleen,
things are not how they seem

There's no beauty any more

Now, though it seems I am losing,
it's not true
And though it seems there's confusion, it's also not true
You say wait
but some things don't wait any more
Well, I've been to the promised Land
I've been there
I've also been down to the bottom
and looked up from despair

Now, though it seems I am losing,
It's not true
Now, though it seems there's confusion it's also not true
Some things won't wait any more

Don't stand me down, or around,
for I'll never stop saying your name

Here is a protest

Dexys Midnight Runners The Waltz Comments
  1. P.... W....

Another magnificent performance from this album. The world just wasn't ready for it.

  2. W.... H....

    Sooooooooooooooooooo boring

    W.... H....

    Fantastic. Great comment.

  3. R.... A....

Something makes me want to drip honey in front of the sun to this song.

  4. J.... E....

I would edit the hell out of this song and make it 100 times better.

    J.... E....

    Could you be less vague?

    J.... E....

Well I would slightly up the tempo. And I would remove the weak refrains - take out everything from about 2.00 to 2.55 and from 3.55 to 6.05.

Now you've got a classic. If I was ruler of the universe I would order this to be done immediately.

    J.... E....

@James Evans And in the option of the rest of the universe - be responsible for ruining a brilliant record, but on the other hand making the Kevin Rowland even more popular.

    J.... E....

Well I'm all about popular. That's why i'm closing in on the position of Ruler of the Universe.

  5. A.... G....

dont stand me down is criminally under-rated

  6. F.... E....

Kevin Rowland è l'artista musicale più originale che il Regno Unito abbia espresso nell'ultimo scorcio del ventesimo secolo fino a tutt'ora. Kevin Rowland is the most peculiar artist in music UK's gave us all in the last scrap of the 20th century up to the beginning of this new one.
