Devin Townsend - Transdermal Celebration Lyrics

Transdermal celebration
Caused a slight mutation in the rift

It toppled down a nation
And left the people running for the hills

But the mutants that I see
Shine their beauty unto me
I wish you could see them

Tectonic tribulation
Formed a crust of green beyond the reef
Waves fell in formation
Cause the plants to bend with spiked leaves

I'm growing with the land
Time has taken my hands and let me touch them

Hey, hey
A billion miles to Mark A
Lay on the lawn, he's already home
When the morning ray hits his face

Transdermal celebration
Jets flew in formation I could see them

Dropping the crustaceans
Leaving trails of flames in their wake

But where is the mutation
Who once told me it was safe, I can't find him

Hey, hey
A billion miles to Mark A
Lay on the lawn, he's already home
When the morning ray hits his face

Devin Townsend Transdermal Celebration Comments
  1. K.... C....

This and Ih Ah need to be slower, and these songs would be perfect.

    K.... C....

It sounds kinda cool at .75 speed

  2. G.... G....

Спасибо Девин на совер на песню!

  3. R.... ....

    What a stupid song name.

    R.... ....

    You're a stupid song name

  4. j.... h....

Really well-produced tribute to a masterpiece, yet somehow extremely depressing.

  5. A.... W....

    Devin Brownsend

  6. M.... F....

WHEN the morning Ray's hit his face! Prefer this version of that line.

  7. S.... H....

I love how Devin, who can shred with the best, plays the original solo note for note. Quite a compliment to Dean Ween.

    S.... H....

    Because Deaner's solo is perfect.

  8. N.... M....

such an awesome cover. sounds HUGGGGEEEE!

  9. S.... H....

Mind fucking blown. Devin Townsend covering ween. And it kills!

  10. O.... ....

    Awesome

  11. T.... B....

LOVED that breakdown you added to it at the end!!

  12. a.... ....

I've just listened to Transcendence for the first time. Holy fuck, it's AWESOME!! This song was really good, and I had no idea it was a cover. Great album indeed!

  13. C.... B....

SHT WHY IS THIS SO LONG

    C.... B....

Ambient in the end to finish the album. That's it.

  14. G.... M....

JESUS what a fucking good cover! gotta say, one simply cannot sing better than mr. townsend

  15. A.... M....

Devy and Ween should tour together. Their setlists combined would last until dawn.

  16. T.... P....

For those that want to read an incredible story, look up how deaner recorded the guitar solo......and whos gear he used .....without them knowing about it.

  17. J.... ....

    What a fucking sick cover.

  18. E.... 3....

Awsome to see people doing Ween Covers

  19. H.... G....

    i still prefer the original

  20. N.... ....

Yeah but at least he did an incredible version of it!

  21. R.... S....

I wish he covered push th little daisies

  22. n.... ....

    Nailed it!

  23. D.... G....

I do like the original, but Devy blows the Ween vocals out of the water.

  24. K.... M....

5:50 reminds me of The Hummer

  25. S.... B....

I was thinking about how Day 5: Voices of Ayreon sounds a lot like this song, even the solo! Ween's song is two years older, tho'

    S.... B....

Sam Bustos fun fact: Devin actually sings in ayreon, he plays the part of rage

  26. R.... F....

Devin needs to release an album of Ween covers called "Ocean Man: Biomech"

  27. S.... ....

The mixing in this sounds like shit.

    S.... ....

    Bull fucking shit

    S.... ....

And what about the Ween original mix sounds better? Is it the out of tune guitars that tickles your fancy? This is one of the best mixed/mastered albums I have heard in a long time. Listen to the rest of the damn album before you shit on the "mix". Until then, I will just assume that you don't know what the hell you are talking about.

    S.... ....

It’s a technique called the wall of sound technique. It’s when you layer a lot of tracks (reverb, extra guitars, keys, previous takes, the song prabhujee is in there way in the background) to give it that drowned out effect. All of Devin’s music is supposed to resemble a live performance (he uses old takes as part of the mix) so it’s not “studio perfect” What part of it sounds like shit? The mix on this album is supposed to harken back to Infinity and Ocean Machine, two of the greatest prog metal albums of all time.

    S.... ....

Caleb Hohneke At least you can clearly hear the vocals in the original. The lead guitar are simply way too loud and drown out the vocals as well as some of the backing tracks. It works for the solo, it doesn't work elsewhere.
Also, nobody's shitting on the album itself, we're talking about the mixing on this particular song. It all boils down to opinion. Some like this kind of imperfect, live sound the mixing here has. Some prefer a clearer, crisper sound. And when given the choice between the two, I personally always gravitate towards the latter.

    S.... ....

Caleb Hohneke the guitars are not outta tune. look i agree with you but dont hate on the original bruh its better however this DOES VERY MUCH do it Justice

  28. c.... w....

Had never heard this song before this. I took a listen to the original, and found it to be a great rock song. However, Devin has kicked it up a few notches with this version. REALLY love it!!!

    c.... w....

chris williams don't think Ween to be some normal rock band, though. They're far from that. Lol

  29. S.... H....

    beautiful.

  30. a.... ....

One personal favorite artist covering another personal favorite artists = pure bliss.

    a.... ....

    and doing it WELL.

  31. J.... A....

    Absolutely brilliant!

    J.... A....

    it's a cover

  32. S.... M....

Not a bad cover but I don't know, it feels very out-of-place with the rest of the album. And I don't get the lengthy ambient instrumental bit that's longer than the actual song! It's almost as if this song was made to be filler.

    S.... M....

I would like to respectfully disagree, sir or madame.

As someone who had never heard the song before, it really blew me away.

It moved me greatly. I have an immense appreciation for any artist that can still do that to me.

    S.... M....

Well, to each, their own. But I still think this song would've fit better on the second disc which is meant to be a collection of bonus tracks anyway.

    S.... M....

Terra Australis Incognita I think the ambient bit is fine. It's the last track on the album (at least before the bonus disc), and it's a nice way to cool down after an hour or so of music.

    S.... M....

it kind of feels out of place without context, but when you listen to what proceeded it directly into the new song, it works pretty well.

    S.... M....

He added nothing to the original other than a louder, modern recording sound and some soundscape bollocks at the end, really. I can't say its bad because the song is fantastic but the original is a tough tune to better in the first place.

  33. W.... S....

    This sounds fucking glorious!

  34. M.... A....

I never thought I would live to see Devin Townsend cover a Ween song.

    M.... A....

and now you have my good sir and it's glorious

    M.... A....

Next needs to be Ocean Man

    M.... A....

    Dude yes, its heaven

    M.... A....

    Hes a very big fan.
