I am so unspeakably grateful that Devin is around. I'm 30 and it always frustrated me a bit that all the bands and artists I love are already dead or 70+ years old and barely creating anything new. I envied the previous generations for having the chance to see Frank Zappa or Pink Floyd live or to get excited about new album releases. But now, here it is, Devin fucking Townsend, in the prime of his life, producing world class, mind-blowing music, giving live shows and all that shit. It's a fantastic feeling to be a part of it.

Hey guys, Honest review/input here as far as purchasing his music. I am sort of new to Dev, like a couple of years I saw some YT stuff, have enjoyed his new album Empath for free on youtube for a while. IF you like his stuff, definitely when you go to buy his music get the upgraded deluxe. It comes with fucking 20 songs, and they're just as good, if not better. I'm not telling you this because " support devin", even though you should. For like 4 extra bucks you double the album and it's got good ass demos on there, i'm sad they didn't make it on the album. This shit is a masterpiece. I was really on the fence about purchasing this album. I listened to it on Youtube, and fucking hated the interruptions with the ads, so i bought it. It's a great experience without commercials. If you can't sleep or whatever before bed, shut all the shit like lights off and put some quality headphones on. Listen to this for free on youtube, it will take you on a journey, but for me the commercials ruined it after every amazing song. The deluxe album on my phone not only allows me to enjoy this better, but seriously just as a value the demos are fucking legit, not some half ass studio shit, they're great songs. So, in conclusion, IF you want to purchase, get the deluxe for 5 extra bucks or whatever and double the album from 10 songs on youtube to 20 songs that will rock your shit. I don't regret it, in fact, i've been listening to this album probably way too much like over and over without stop.

When i heard the intro, i thought that youtube accidentically had switched over to a new David Gilmour album, or some hidden song from Division Bell. I have had a hard time daring listening to Empath for some reason, bc i want it to be SO good, so now i try Singularity, the fan favorite for the first time from start to finish, sounds good so far!

But after reading and listening to them, I don't see what's your issue. He wasn't "denying" he said those things, he just didn't remember the exact way he expressed his thoughts, and didn't believe his intentions behind his words were the ones the interviewer was saying. He conceded he was probably a little pressed by the record company, but that's about it.

Townsend invested a good amount of money on the album, and asking for people to buy it if they can it's a very reasonable request.

what's wrong with expecting people to pay for an album?

Giving hard-earned money for someone else's hard work seems like a reasonable exchange, no?

This song is like musically running a marathon... Just Epic.

A digital nightmare

Every time I get to that reverb trail at the end I always say outloud "what a fucking good album." What a fucking good album. I don't pay much attention to lyrics but I've picked up on certain things over the past couple of months listening to it and the song really seems to have been my anthem for this brief, weird chapter.
