Denver, John - Rocky Mountain High Lyrics
He was born in the summer of his 27th year, coming home to a place he'd never been before
He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again
You might say he found a key for every door
When he first came to the mountains, his life was far away on the road and hanging by a song
But the strings already broken and he doesn't really care
And the Colorado Rocky Mountain high, I've seen it raining fire in the sky
The shadows from the starlight are softer than a lullaby
Rocky Mountain high, Colorado. Rocky Mountain high
He climbed cathedral mountains, he saw silver clouds below
He saw everything as far as you can see
And they say that he got crazy once and he tried to touch the sun
And he lost a friend, but kept the memory
Now he walks in quiet solitude, the forest and the streams, seeking grace in every step he takes
The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake
And the Colorado Rocky Mountain high, I've seen it raining fire in the sky
You can talk to God and listen to the casual reply
Rocky Mountain high, Colorado. Rocky Mountain high
Now his life is full of wonder, but his heart still knows some fear
Of a simple thing he can not comprehend
Why they try to tear the mountains down to bring in a couple more
More people, more scars upon the land
And the Colorado Rocky Mountain high, I've seen it raining fire in the sky
I know he'd be a poor man if he never saw an eagle fly
Rocky Mountain high, the Colorado Rocky Mountain high, I've seen it raining fire in the sky
Friends around the campfire and everybody's high
Rocky Mountain high, Colorado. Rocky Mountain high
Rocky Mountain high, Colorado. Rocky Mountain high

Denver, John Rocky Mountain High Comments
Im high...rocky mountain high.
My husband’s parents owned the BRB Resort on the Crystal river in Carbondale, Colorado. I stayed with them in 1973. My husband, then boyfriend gifted me that album so I’d always remember my stay there. Aspen was quaint in the 70’s, not what it is today. Carbondale either which had only a bar. Lol

If you have never experienced the Rockies beyond the cities and experienced the fire in the sky (asteroids bursting) and seeing the milky way in complete darkness go now before the light pollution overtakes it. I promise u will love it.
One of the best memories I have of my childhood is walking through some shops in a few of the little mountain towns in Colorado and always hearing John Denver.
Miss u soo...
I love him so much. Wish he was here again. But he lives on with his music.
Happy new year's

John Denver crashed and burned in his own personal airplane.
He might have been a little too "Rocky Mountain High" for that flight.

2020: Me and the boys ended the decade with a night of chilling, magic and reminiscing of the past. It bittersweet to think that by the beginning of 2030 most of us will be married, started a career job, own a house, etc.
2030:
Life goes quick. Make choices that make you happy. Not what others want for you. Speaking from experience 😊

Of course, there is ALWAYS that one person
Not in to this kind of music but , he's cool.
Amazing song💚
Listened to this twice last night. The lyrics drip with passion, legendary epicness, and that melancholy touch of nostalgia...the line "the shadow from the starlight is softer than a lullabye" is just fuckin ridiculous badassery. Hit me deep.
I have loved this song since I was 5 years old. Of all of his music, this is the best😁
Supposedly this song caused a population influx into the mountain areas driving housing and living costs sky high.
Now even millionaires are being forced out.
For me, the very first sign Fallout 76 was going to be doomed was when they did that AWFUL wannabe remake of 'Take me home, Country Roads'.
John is/was/always will be the voice of that song.
Enjoy the Curse of Calypso, Bethesda
final destination !!!
Too bad he couldn’t fly over the Rocky Mountain High
John Denver was HUGE in the 1970s!!!!!

Mom died this year Nov. 2019. My MOM loved the world, plants and living things; took me to Colorado, when i was a kid. Look and see she would say, see the wonder of it all. Love you mom!
So sorry. :(
He was born in the 27th year of his life, coming home to a place he'd never been before. May we all find that special place that truly brings us home.
Play John Denver for my husband's funeral, at graveside. His request, On Wing of Eagles.
More people, more scars upon the land.
I kinda get that one

"John Denver...he died in an airplane crash" "LET ME OFF THE PLANE" - Final Destination
I literally came here from Alexandria Ryan
Soundtrack of "Final Destination"
Rhymes and reasons - the best. But he did so much that lasts for ever.
I saw John in concert 4 times. In 1978 at Madison Square Garden. In 1982 and 1985 at the Meadowlands in New Jersey, and 1991 at the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford, CT. Each performance was mesmerizing. Sing along fabulous, I still tear up when I play his songs. I'll be 72 soon.
Final Destination ?

It’s rained a few days this week here in Los Angeles & the mountains to the northeast are so beautiful & full of snow. I get to look at them on my commute to work. I found myself thinking of this song & couldn’t take it anymore: I had to bring it up on YouTube, heard it at least 5 times before I got to work. I hate that I remember when I was ALMOST 27 and I wanted to spend time in the Rocky Mountains to see if I could experience what he was talking about. That was almost 27 years ago! I had forgotten all about that wish/dream. 🤕
He was born in the summer
Of his 27th year
Coming home to a place
He'd never been before
He left yesterday behind him
You might say he was born again
Might say he found a key
For every door
When he first came to the mountains
His life was far away
On the road
And hanging by a song
But the strings already broken
And he doesn't really care
It keeps changing fast
And it don't last for long
It's a Colorado Rocky Mountain High
I've seen it raining fire in the sky
The shadows from the starlight
Are softer than a lullaby
Rocky mountain high...
Rocky mountain high...
He climbed cathedral mountains
He saw silver clouds below
Saw everything as far
As you can see
And they say that he got crazy once
And that he tried to touch the sun
And he lost a friend
But kept the memory
Now he walks in quiet solitude
The forest and the stream
Seeking grace
In every step he takes
His sight is turned inside himself
To trying understand
The serenity
Of a clear blue mountain lake
And the Colorado Rocky Mountain High
I've seen it raining fire in the sky
You can talk to God
And listen to the casual reply
Rocky mountain high...
Rocky mountain high...
Now his life is full of wonder
But his heart still knows some fear
Of the simple things
He can not comprehend
Why they try to tear the mountains down
To bring in a couple more
More people
More scars upon the land
It's the Colorado Rocky Mountain High
I've seen it raining fire in the sky
I know he'd be a poorer man
If he never saw
An eagle fly
Rocky mountain high...
Colorado Rocky Mountain High
I've seen it raining fire in the sky
Friends around the camp fire
And everybody's high
Rocky mountain high...
Rocky mountain high...
Rocky mountain high...
Rocky mountain high...
Over 6 Thousand people felt the need to put a thumbs down on this song and i feel sorry for them,,,not really i hope they get as boil on their Ass at some point lol
"That john denver is full of shit man"
Took me a long time to really understand this song...so beautiful. I used to hike up on Signal Mountain in Tennessee, on the Appalachian Trail...not the Rockies, but it sure was peaceful. I would go by myself and just get lost in nature for a few hours. Nothing beats dangling your feet off a 1,000 cliff and there's nobody disturbing you...just the mountains...the trees...waterfalls...all natural beauty that could never be replaced with special fx or cgi...I remember watching hawks and falcons floating on thermals up there...totally free. My health will probably never let me experience that again, but I am so happy I got to see those beautiful wonders when I was a healthy young man. I doubt I will be around much longer so I've made arrangements to have my ashes spread from the top of Signal Mountain where I spent so much time as a young man. Every time I hear this song it takes me back there...🌲🌳⛅🌳❤
